“One of the most important aspects of technology in education is its ability to level the field of
opportunity for students.” -John King, U.S. Secretary of Education
My name is Edel Guyuran Villanueva, and my portfolio is a representation of all that I've
learned and accomplished as a Teacher Certificate Program (TCP) student.
Currently technology plays a significant role in life. In today’s society, children are
exposed to technology everywhere. Technology is in homes, offices and schools. Technology is
full of stimuli and requires paying attention to many different things at once. Technology is
transforming how we work, our organizations, and nearly every aspect of our daily lives, it is
transforming the way children and young people access information, communicate, learn and
even play.
Realizing that technology is changing how we live I realized that Education must also
adapted this change, we need to shifted our education so that we can also transform our
education system to technology base approaches, we need to redesigning the delivery of
education to a learner. These new goals require changes in the design of learning environments
as well as the creation of new tools. Tools that capture students’ learning goals in relation to the
actual work they do, their academic progress, and levels of engagement.
“The challenge is to teach our learners how to analyze, how to make sense of the data that
they are being flooded with. We have to develop the capacity not only for the learners but for us
future teachers and for us institutions producing the teachers to discern what data is relevant,” As
an educator, it is also our responsibility to teach the learners how to synthesize these data and
how to make sense of the world which is always changing. We need to help our learners to
absorb to be able to innovate and be relevant to the changing time.”

Picture B
Picture A.
On the other hand, Picture B is a Modern Teacher who understands the varied learning
styles of students and uses different strategies and approaches to education whereas the modern
way of doing things involves interactive methods or a virtual learning environment together to
make effective interaction with one another by way of chat, file sharing, using podcasts,
discussion boards (power-point presentation), Laptop cellphone, and other Modern Technology
gadgets, as I can see the learners is focused on listening and learning on this interactive method
of teaching.
In one way or another BOTH TEACHERS touch the lives of every student traditional or
modern in any case, it depends on how the students’ value and appreciate it. Both teachers are
trying their best to teach their learners they are preparing them to be globally competitive and
law-abiding professionals and I think they instill values, competencies, skills to think, time
management, and wise decision-making.
On the other hand, who is better equipped to handle the 21st-century learner I think
illustration B is better equipped for today’s learning needs because it is the 21st-century that so
much has changed in the last few decades, and it is not only technology that is having the biggest
impact on what we do, it is the speed of change. Everything is just changing so fast that is why
we need also a teacher who is now called the 21st Century teacher as an educator of this era we
need to be equipped, adjusted, resilient, dedicated, and committed to change and to be an
instrument to adapt and adopt an educator who can address in our leaners 21st Century Skills
which are Critical thinking, Communication skills, Creativity, Problem-solving, Perseverance,
Collaboration, Information literacy, Technology skills, and digital literacy.
Which of the two teachers would you like to become when you passed the LET? Why?
How could Mr. Shabukali use PowerPoint in a more learner-focused way to encourage
active learning?
What can you say about the approach to technology taken by Mr. Shabukali? What are
the strengths of his activity? Can you think of ways to improve it?
✍️Case Study 1
Mr. Shabukali’s school has just installed digital projectors and all staff is being
encouraged to use them in their classes. Mr. Shabukali is not very happy about this as he is not
very experienced with using technology but decides that he will make a PowerPoint for his next
English lesson. He is teaching the past simple irregular verbs, so he makes a table with two
columns – one for the infinitive and one for the past tense – and copies it onto some PowerPoint
slides.
In the classroom, he puts on the PowerPoint and then tells his students to copy the table
into their notebooks in silence. It’s quite difficult for the students at the back to see the slide, but
Mr. Shabukali is a very strict teacher and they are nervous about telling him so they say nothing.
While the students are copying the slides, the teacher sits at his desk looking at his laptop.
He realizes that he has made two mistakes on the first slide: blow/blown and hurt/hurt. He
quickly moves on to the next slide, although most of the students have not finished copying the
first slide. But there’s another mistake on the second slide (ring/runged). He quickly switches off
the laptop and tells the students to open their books and do the exercise on page 21.
✍️Case Study 2
Mrs. Bwalya works in the same school. She has a different approach to technology from
her colleague and wants to use it to get her students talking to each other. She chooses pictures
that she has found online showing the life cycle of a frog. She shows her students the pictures by
connecting her phone to the projector. Mrs. Bwalya puts her students in groups of four and
explains that the pictures have been mixed up so that they’re in the wrong order. In their groups,
they have to reorganize the pictures and then write down the life cycle.
As the students are working, Mrs. Bwalya moves around the classroom, helping different
groups of students with any problems she can see that they are having. She is surprised to see
that one of the quickest students is a very quiet boy who doesn’t often take part in-class
activities. When all the groups have finished, she asks his group to put the pictures into the right
sequence. When the class has agreed that this is correct, she brings different students to the board
to check that all the students understand and can spell the key vocabulary.
Answer:
Mr. Shabukali uses PowerPoint in a very restrictive way. He could ask the students to
spot the errors and correct them, even turning them into a speed-reading game between groups.
Another way to make learning more student-centered is to leave gaps and ask students either
individually, in pairs, or in small groups, to complete the table. That way the PowerPoint can be
used as a formative assessment, checking that students understand the content being copied. It’s
also important to make sure that everybody can read the screen. You can do this by moving
around the room – it’s easy to enlarge text size if you find it’s too small for some of the students.
The successful integration of ICT into the learning environment will depend on the
ability of teachers to structure learning in new ways, merge technology appropriately with a
pedagogy, develop socially active classrooms, and encourage cooperative interaction and
collaborative learning, and group work. For many, this requires a different set of skills from
those they currently possess.
In the second example, Mrs. Bwalya takes a more creative approach to use technology,
involving group work and active learning. Her role is to monitor the learning and see which
students have difficulties. Did you notice how her lesson moved forward from the stimulus of the
technology, and she made sure the students were all aware of the key vocabulary? She could
extend this by asking the learners to write a short paragraph on the lifecycle of the frog.
PS. Reminders:
In our classroom setup or any kind of learning environment, teachers should make
sure that the students were given a chance to talk about their ideas that may support their
learning. Also, remember that our activities should be relevant to their lives, especially in
promoting their skills.
What were the ICT tools that your teachers or professors used in a class during your
college days?
The ICT tools that my teacher use are computers, laptops, printers, scanners, software
programs, and data projectors, and some of the common network devices that they use are Hub,
Switch, Router, Bridge, and Modem They also use Software ICT Tools like Google Classroom,
Google Notes, Google Meet, Zoom, and MS Team.
I remember that my teacher helps our Motivation and attention levels when they use the
ICT tools especially when they use videos played in projectors, interactive learning when we use
different apps like photoshop, video editing apps, and Programing devices it all contributed to
greater effectiveness of our learning process.
Using Multimedia content is a very useful tool for us it helps us understand our
subject/lesson in a complete and entertaining way.
Using ICT tools also makes our team projects easier. In over observation, our teacher is a
more effective teacher when he uses the ICT tool efficiently, is knowledgeable, and when he
masters or is familiar with the uses of the ICT Tools.
Write at least five lessons vis-a-vis the ICT tools and a short description of how these
were used.
Educational Networking- Online learning platforms that connect learners using social
networking technologies, exhibiting similar functions to sites like Facebook or MySpace.
Mobile Learning- Mobile devices or technologies used for educational purposes that
support different aspects of the instruction or make new educational activities available.
The Internet has proved a huge advancement in the ICT community. Videoconferencing and
distance learning allow people thousands of miles apart to speak together as if they were in the
same room. ICT involves more than just sharing of information, however. It also includes the
quest to improve communication throughout the world, especially to more underserved areas of
the globe.
Post-Test
I will use technology both in preparing learning materials and in teaching activities in the
classroom. I will access learning resources on the internet and share them with my students. I can
access images, sounds, and videos and share them with my students so that they are more
enthusiastic about learning.
I will use technology in the use of Online Question Practice Platforms like Google
Forms. I can also use the online practice platform to get various types of practice questions. This
can improve students' ability to solve problems and understand the material. This platform
provides various types of practice questions, interactive study summaries, as well as a tutor
question feature that can help students understand teaching materials.
I will use Video Conferences Platform for Distance Learning Systems if this learning
method will continue to push through in the coming school years and for the future of the
Philippine educational system, so I can bring people from different places at one time to meet,
and this technology can also be used simultaneously to exchange documents and type messages.
Technological developments are so rapid that I have to be ready for all of these changes.
And for me to be an effective future teacher I need to embrace many teaching strategies for me to
be able to teach and reach all learners. Also, I need to be able to implement all of this
technology-driven teaching methods.

Title of the Issue: Facts and case summary for Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier, 484 U.S. 260 (1988)
The First Amendment rights of student journalists are not violated when school officials prevent
the publication of certain articles in the school newspaper.
Students in the Journalism II class at Hazelwood East High School in St. Louis, Missouri
wrote stories about their peers’ experiences with teen pregnancy and the impact of divorce.
When they published the articles in the school-sponsored and funded newspaper The Spectrum,
the principal deleted the pages that contained the stories prior to publication without telling the
students.
Claiming that the school violated their First Amendment rights, the students took them
case to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri in St. Louis. The trial courts
ruled that the school had the authority to remove articles that were written as part of a class.
The students appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, which reversed
the lower court, finding that the paper was a & quote; public forum & quote; that extended
beyond the walls of the school. It decided that school officials could censor the content only
under extreme circumstances. The school appealed to the Supreme Court of the United States.
In a 5-3 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court held that the principal & #39; s actions did not violate
the
Students & #39; free speech rights. The Court noted that the paper was sponsored by the school
and, as such, the school had a legitimate interest in preventing the publication of articles that it
deemed inappropriate and that might appear to have the imprimatur of the school.
Specifically, the Court noted that the paper was not intended as a public forum in which
everyone could share views; rather, it was a limited forum for journalism students to write
articles, subject to school editing, that met the requirements of their Journalism II class.
Censorship can provide a lot of benefits. One of the most commonly known benefits of
censorship is that it helps control unlawful behavior, such as violence and profanity. Censorship
is the process of controlling what people see, hear, and read. Governments use censorship to
control what content is shown in the media. The main benefit of censoring media is to maintain
control. Censorship is all about suppressing inappropriate parts of expression and others. The
suppression can be enforced by the government or without. When the government enforces
censorship, this means that they want complete control over everything in the country. It has also
Dis-advantages, Censorship is a powerful tool, but it can also threaten people & #39; s right to
free
speech and suppress freedom of expression. Moreover, when censorship occurs in one place,
such as the workplace or school system, it not only blocks information from spreading but causes
dissent among people by restricting them from having their voices heard.
Essentially, the school established an unlimited public forum when it launched its
Facebook page on the worldwide web which, by definition, is a free and unlimited forum. School
officials do not have the authority to restrict content on the Internet, just as they do not have the
authority to control content in other public media. Facebooks is called social media because it is
just that – social. It is designed to facilitate connection and communication without censorship.
In an unlimited forum, such as the web, views live and die in the marketplace of ideas, much as
they should in a robust learning environment. Schools should function as unlimited public
forums where ideas are explored – not suppressed. In addition, when the faculty named a student
to be the Facebook administrator for content on the student wall, the school delegated posting
decisions to the students. The school cannot prohibit student postings just because the
administration might misinterpret the content and find it controversial or offensive. But for the
student we need to think million time in posting and publishing or content “there is a saying that
think before you click”
