When I was given an option to choose from a pool of subjects, the first thing I did was question myself regarding which subject would add the most value to me. The choice was personality development and communication. It is very important to be able to put your ideas forth clearly, to effectively present yourself in front of other people, leaving a good impression on others, and obviously to give a good interview, etc.
WHAT DID I LEARN?
Before getting to study this subject, I did not think of personality as a term which would incorporate a lot of aspects. I did not realize that how vaguely everyone says, “I like his personality” or “I don’t feel he has a good personality”. Even after having a small conversation with the other person, people form a perception about their “personality”. I got to know that personality is a very broad term which includes how open the people are, how eager they are to learn new things and enjoy new experiences, are open to new ideas and explore them, enjoy social gatherings and talking with new people, how they like to assist people when they are in a need of help, show interest to other’s problems, and a lot more. A lot of factors of factors are included while assessing a person’s personality.
WHAT DID I LIKE?
- I liked the fact that sir tried to make the class very engaging by asking us numerous questions to the class, listen to their opinions and give great feedbacks to their answers. - The classes felt like a safe place where anyone could put forth their opinions about various things and not be afraid to be judged by other people. - other than just covering up the syllabus the focus was also to help students learn more. For example, helping students to get rid of their fear of English by encouraging them to converse in it even if they stutter or stumble upon the words.
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER?
- I think that there should have been more practical application of this subject. Rather than just discussions in the classes, there could have been more frequent improvisation sessions in the class which would also have made the classes more interesting. Other than this, I think the classes were pretty good.
