A. Gram-positive bacteria have thick cell walls. These microorganisms give positive results in the Gram stain test. This test, which uses a chemical dye, stains the bacterial
cell walls purple. Gram-negative bacteria are resistant to multiple drugs and are becoming increasingly resistant to most available antibiotics. These bacteria have a built-
in ability to find new ways to become resistant, and can pass on genetic material that allows other bacteria to become resistant as well. Gram-negative bacteria, on the
other hand, do not retain the pigment.
