DISCUSSION POST

With an enough of a proper knowledge of why is chemistry important in the field

that I am pursuing, we started the discussion. I do have guesses, and it feels good to let
it go, to share it with the class even if I’m uncertain if it’s true. The class was very
interactive that I became intimated in a good way where it urges me to interact, too.

As for the discussion, I have comprehended a lot, thanks to how active the
discussion is, but I found satisfaction while discussing the laboratory safety. Well, aside
from it is very necessary to learn because of the laboratory activities that we will perform
this semester, it is more of an application rather than just gaining knowledge; to which I
find more interesting. Even though there was a technical problem while playing the
video from the internet and we have to rewatch it, the discussion from Engr. Bermido
helped to make me comprehend it better.

Focusing on my takeaways, I was engaged on how laboratory safety minimizes

the risk of an occurrence of hazard. Even so some of the details from the discussion
were already a topic back to junior and senior high, I didn’t have the chance to apply it
since during JHS, we just don’t have a laboratory for science experiments and during
SHS, it was an online-distance learning. Now, I am looking forward to it. I come to know
that you don’t enter the lab with the “my body, my fashion” if you want yourself safe from
danger. May we want it or not, you have to wear PPEs, or not just entering the lab, our
choice. And also, since I have a long hair, it’s important for me to know that I have to it
back for myself. Aside from it, the safety equipments were also necessarily discussed
like what to do when accidents occur since it’s evitable in laboratories and unforeseen,
those includes the ‘you should know’ inside the lab, for instance, their locations.
Laboratory is not always about us, I learned— that is why we have to follow the
behavior, those what to wear in the lab, not just go by ourselves, ignore how the lab
works and risk the safety of ourselves and those working with us.
