Set in a serene Mission Hills setting on a sloped site, this modern mid-century inspired single family home complements its surroundings and preserves the existing site terrain. A seamless cantilevering style is presented in a single level layout that allows a cozy minimal but luxurious lifestyle. The large rooftop deck allows residents to enjoy the beautiful San Diego ate and to take in the peaceful canyon setting. An elevator allows easy-access into the 9 area as the garage is built on the lower level, creating greater accessibility to future tenants. 01 01 SITE LOCATION CALIFORNIA 02 ABOUT THE PROJECT Embedded in a steep slope in a suburban neighborhood, the Clea House resembles nothing less than a beacon from the future. Architect Soheil Nakhshab's company purchased a vacant lot in Mission Hill in 2014 for $312,500, then designed the sleek 3,820-square-foot home that subsequently earned LEED Platinum certification, thanks in part to a robust solar array. The project finished in 2016. 03 02 ABOUT THE PROJECT In line with the NDD design philosophy, sustainable measures are used throughout the home to the standard of LEED Gold: Drought tolerant landscaping, nontoxic pest control, water efficient fixtures and fittings, high efficiency LED lighting, energy star appliances, solar PV, and environmentally preferable products. The Clea house is an NDD signature home with the minimal but luxurious, sustainable design that the NDD team has become known for.” LEED GOLD YscBe 04 03 THE ARCHITECT Founded in 2003, Nakhshab Development & Design (NDD) is an innovative design-build firm located in San Diego, California. Soheil Nakhshab is responsible for overseeing all architecture, engineering, construction, design-build, LEED and business segments. Soheil’s architecture training has come into fruition through rigorous work experience and a natural eye for design. Having a technical education background with architectural talent has allowed Soheil to excel in overseeing the design and build process. The classical master-builder philosophy fuels his success in combining the architectural process as well as the engineering and construction of projects as developer, creating a cohesive final product that brings the greatest value. His talents have been recognized internationally, with work published in international magazines such as Dwell. 03 THE ARCHITECT 03.1 THE ARCHITECT RELATED PROJECTS Leon Townhomes brings a modern feel to the historic Bankers Hill neighborhood of San Diego. Earning LEED certification, Leon offers a sustainable option close to downtown. Each of the four townhomes has a private deck, and rooftop deck with a hot tub and patio. Age-in-place accessibility is made apparent with a private elevator and a 2-car garage.
