DISSERTATIONS/ PROJECTS

Ph.D. Dissertation [July 2013-November 2018]

Development of high-capacity tin-alloy based negative electrode for lithium–ion
battery
Guide: Prof. Siddhartha Das, IIT Kharagpur

The dissertation reports development of a high-capacity Sn-Sb-Cu/Ni ternary alloy

anode material impregnated into a porous Ni current collector for Li ion batteries by
electrodeposition. This anode has the potential to replace the conventional graphite
anode and enhance the battery capacity.

M. Tech. Dissertation [May 2012- June 2013]

Effect of twin boundaries on strength & conductivity of Cu
Guide: Prof. Prita Pant, IIT Bombay
 Optimized strength and conductivity by adjusting twin fraction through
different annealing cycle
 Observed and measured twin growth behaviour and kinetics at a single
temperature
 Future plan is to fabricate Cu wire with single crystal at the core and nano-
twinned ultra-fine-grained zone at the surface in order to improve strength, and
creep without affecting conductivity to a large extent.
M. Tech. Course Seminar/Project [Jan 2012-April 2012]
Guide: Prof. N. Prabhu, IITB
 Construction of Phase Diagram By Computational Method in MATLAB
 Discontinuous Precipitation Of Cu-4%Silver Alloy
B. E. Project [Aug’2009-Apr’2010]
Grain refinement of non-ferrous low melting elements by melt spinning
Guide: Dr. Rajib Dey, Jadavpur University
 Devised a machine to carry out melt spinning of Zn, Sn, Pb and Al
 Correlated the change in microstructure with the change in property

INTERNSHIP
Tata Steel Ltd, Jamshedpur [May’09-July ’09]
Worked on the project entitled “Effect of Microstructure and Mechanical
Properties of Hot-Rolled
High-Strength Steel on Hole Expansion Ratio” under Mr. G. Jha

 Experimentally measured hole-expansion ratio of micro-alloyed steels and

martensitic steels
 Optimized the amount and proportion of micro-alloying elements to achieve the
best combination of strength and ductility

INVITED TALK
