Kaulan Ji is sent to Kartarpur.
Mata Ji only has 8 days more
to live.
Lastly, Narad Muni asks Guru
Ji various questions and the
answers are written by Bhai
Gurdas in his Kabitt 303.

the Shakargang Well. Guru
Arjan Dev Ji has given a boon
to anyone who takes bath at
the well shall have all wishes
fulfilled, shall not see hell and
the women shall get children.
From there, a Sikh whose
cattle had been hunted by a
tiger in a nearby Alamganj
Jungle comes to Guru Ji for
help. Guru Ji hunts the tiger
alone and the past life of the
tiger is described. The tiger in
his past birth was a Sikh of
Guru Nanak but he had
slandered Guru Ji once which
is why he was reincarnated as
tiger. But as he had performed
Sewa, Guru Ji Himself came
to liberate him.

sword, Guru Ji told him that
at the place where he was
supposed to show valour, he
ran. But here to a saint, the
sword is being unsheath.
Listening to Guru Ji, he asked
for forgiveness. He was asked
to return and Guru Ji gave
him a boon that he shall be
readmitted to Shah Jahan’s
court at an elevated position
of a minister.

the fallen Sikhs were
individual inspected and their
names were said by Guru Ji
before they were placed in
the river. Upon which, the
bodies of 14,000 soldiers were
thrown into the river.

entire town to him.
The following day, guru Ji
organises a tour with Baba
Buddha Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji.
Sikhs requests Guru Ji to
name this new town and this
duty was handed over to Baba
Buddha Ji who upon
discussing with fellow Sikhs
comes up with the name, Sri
Hargobindpur.
Baba Buddha Ji decides to
depart back and Bhai Gurdas
Ji who wished to remain in
the Guru's sanctuary is held
back. So 4 Sikhs returns to
Ramdas.

is eating the bird alive as
Guru Ji helds it. The hand of
Guru Ji is soaking in its blood,
Seeing this, he develops
doubts. Sensing this, the Guru
makes the falcon narrate it's
story where in the past birth,
the falcon was the Sikh of
Guru Ram Das Ji. Once Guru
Ji had sent him for a task and
had handed him 5 Paisa. On
the way, he hired a boatman
and halfway through, the
boatman demands additional
money as Jizya (non-muslim
tax) of 4 Annas ( 8 Paisa). The
sikh only had 2 Paisa
remaining and offered to give
him that. But the boatman got
furious and throws the Sikh
in the river Beas. There while
drowning, the Sikh had a
thought that he shall eat him
alive. So the Sikh was reborn

as a falcon and the boatman as
a Batera. The Guru was
helping the Sikh fulfill its
wishes. After narrating this,
the falcon died. The Sikh
plead for forgiveness as he
doubted the Guru. The entire
sanggat of Kashi was blessed.

Nihala) talking amongst
themselves that the Pandit
has said that the soul's
journey in the afterlife is
100,000 Yojan (equ. to
500,000 km) which has to be
completed in a year. Bhai
Sundar said with Guru's
mercy he will be able to
complete the journey in 12
hours, Bhai Lala said he will
be able to do it in 6 hours,
Bhai Maia said he can
accomplish it in 3 hours and
Bhai Nihala said he can do it
in fickle of an eye.
Nitanand was confused so he
went to Guru Ji and said the
entire narrative and asked
whether is the Bhagvadh
correct or the Sikhs? Guru Ji
instructs Bhai Gurdas Ji to
answer. Bhai Ji said both are
right. A faithful Sikh of a

Guru is not afraid of the
death. The Pandit heard the
explanation of Bhai Gurdas
and he became a Sikh. The
Katha completed on Ashtami.

Amritvela, Baba Ji took his
shower and sat infront of
Guru Ji and recited Japji
Sahib. Upon completion, Baba
Ji saw 5 Gurus infront of Him
and He then bowed to Guru
Hargobind Sahib Ji and
merged into the formless.
Baba Ji's body was carried by
Bhai Ajita Ji and Baba Bhana
Ji infront and Bhai Gurdas Ji
and Guru Ji from the feet. The
pyre was ignited by Baba
Bhana and Guru Ji. Guru Ji
then answers Bhai Ajita Ji on
why were there parasol on

back, it disappeared.

left and soon after, River Ravi
started breaking its banks, so
Sri Chand removed the pot
with Guru Ji's ashes and made
a new memorial. Dharam
Chand then demands for
money, Guru Ji gives 500 gold
coins and a horse. The next
day,Guru Ji visits Dharam's
house where they meet the 2
sons of Dharam: Mehar and
Manak Chand. All behave
egoisticly and no devotion is
shown to Guru Ji. Seeing this
behavior, Bhana Ji, Gurdas Ji,

started talking amongst
themselves when Bhai Gurdas
narrates his composition in:
Vaar 26 Pauri 33 on the
adversary of the Guru and in
Vaar 26 Pauri 34 the way of
the Guru. Guru Ji returns
back to Ramdas and stays
there for 1 month.

congratulated him and told
him not to worry. After
Painda left, Guru Ji started
laughing. Bhai Jaita Ji
inquired and Guru Ji said that
this girl will be the cause of a
huge battle in the future.

Baba Ji arrived at his house,

and said, “Why are you still
sleeping?” Just by saying this,
Mohan got up and went to
play with Baba Ji as planned.
People of Amritsar started
praising Baba Ji and when the
news reached to Guru Ji who
was seated on the Akaal
Takht, Guru Ji was not
pleased. In the evening, when
Baba Ji returned home, Guru
Ji in a strict tone asked Baba Ji
and gave him 2 choices. It was
either Guru Ji leaves his body
or Baba Ji does as a
replacement to Mohan. Baba
Ji did not utter a word and
immediatly left. He laid down
in a location south of Amrit
Sarowar and left his body.
The next day, everyone got to
know and people started
crying. Guru Ji said to

everyone that Baba Atal Rai is
the Sardar of Amritsar and
placed a Tilak on his
forehead. The day was 10
Asu, 1685 Bk. (1628 CE).
Guru Ji prophesised that a
huge monument will be made
in memory of Baba Ji and it
shall have 9 stories depicting
each life of Baba Ji. Guru Ji
gave a boon that anyone who
is cremated here shall be
liberated. A Sikh at that time
brought 5 Rotis and Guru Ji
said that people shall bring
cooked food to Baba Atal.
Thus the saying, Baba Atal
Pakia Pakaiya Ghal. Baba Ji’s
ashes were submitted to River
Gangga.
Bhai Gurdas Ji consoled
everyone and Bhai Biddhi
Chand Ji performed the Path
of Granth Sahib and Ardas
was done at Akaal Takht.
On another note, 6 years had
passed since the passing of
Baba Mohan, Mohri and
Anand Ji. Baba Datu Ji had
few days remaining and Guru
Ji told to breathe his last at
Khadur Sahib.

which are expensive but of
superior breed. Bhai Gurdas
was given the duty. Guru Ji
gave Rs. 50,000 which was
kept on 5 mules.
Guru Ji said to Bhai Ji, pick
the best horses and send it to
me here for inspection. If I
am satisfied, the message shall
come to hand the money. If
not, the horses shall be
returned.
In few days, Bhai Ji reaches
Kabul and manages to find a
horse for 50,000.
Guru Ji loved the horse and
when Bhai Ji was going to
give the money, he saw shells.
Bhai Ji got worried and he ran
to Kashi by tearing the tent
from behind. When the
businessman came inside, he
saw the money. So he took

40,000 and gave the Sikhs
10,000 back.
In few days, Bhai reached
Kashi and the king was Guru’s
devotee. He welcomed Bhai Ji
and made Bhai sit on his
throne. Bhai Ji told him he is
a fugitive of Guru. Raja gave
everything he had and
requested Bhai to utter the
meanings of Gurbani.
Everyday meanings of 1 Pauri
of Japji Sahib was explained
while Bhai Ji sat on the
throne.
Pandits asked Bhai Ji to adopt
Shiva, Bhai Ji replies in Kabitt

Many months (1 year) passed
when Bhai Ji uttered his

will come here and ask for the
milk. You will merge on the
sight of my 6th form.
He was given charnamrit and
mantar by Guru Nanak dev Ji.
He started chanting Guru
Guru.
Buddan Shah stopped
consuming milk and Guru Ji
felt the pull and sent Baba
Gurditta Ji to develop kirtapur
and bless Buddan.
The deities impersonated
Baba Gurditta Ji and tried to

milk. But Buddan knew their
test.
Tigers used to graze their
goats. Baba Gurditta Ji spent 3
days to reach Buddan Shah.
Baba Ji immediately came and
asked for milk. Buddan
refuses as Baba Ji looked
young and requested to have
the glimpse of Guru Nanak
when he saw Guru Ji. Baba Ji
showed him the elderly form
of Guru Nanak. Buddan gave
the milk to Baba Ji. He was
enlighten by drinking the left
over. Buddan then requested
baba Ji to built a town.
Baba Guditta Ji broke the
ground by uttering Satnam.
Construction started.

instructed, Painda Khan to
hunt it. The boar attacked
Painda’s horse and Painda
fell. Seeing him injured, Guru
Ji alone with a shield in his
left hand and a Tegha in his
right, killed it. The boar was
cut into 2 sagittally from his
mouth till the back.
Bhana Ji and Sadhu Ji were
astonished as they saw the
boar’s soul getting on a
beautiful vehicle. Bhana Ji
inquires. Guru Ji told him to
directly ask the soul instead.
The boar said he was a Sikh of
Guru Arjan Dev Ji. When

Baba Buddha Ji, this Sikh was
with the entourage. Baba
Buddha Ji said, what rush are
the Gurus in? The Sikh who
heard this got angry. He
twisted his nose in anger and
said, “you are a Moorakh Jatt.
You have said such harsh
word for Mata Ji. You are a
farmer and you have
forgotten your caste.” Baba
Buddha Ji got angry and said,
“you are a lowly just like boar.
You will take the form of
boar.” He asked for
forgiveness and asked when
will his curse finish. Buddha ji
in benevolence said Guru
shall liberate you at Vadali.
On listening, Bhana and
Sadhu Ji grabbed the feet of
Guru. Guru ji constructed a
Damdama there and the boar
was buried there. Guru Ji said,
“whoever who sees this site,
shall go to the abode of
Guru.” Guru ji uttered the
greatness of Baba Buddha Ji
and said, “whichever Sikh
who slandered Baba Buddha Ji
it spoke ill, attained lowly
species. Now I am liberating
those Sikhs.” Guru ji stayed
there for 4 Gharis. When 2
Ghari remained, Guru Ji went
back to Akaal Takht.

to manifest this site again. But
Guru Ram Das started digging
santokhsar instead.
A wealthy man from Patti
(Duni Chand) had 7 daughters
and he married 6 of his
daughters. The youngest
daughter was the most
beautiful was still single. One
day whilst she was going to
the town with her friends, she
met a congregation of saints.
A topic was discussed that
Almighty is the only
nourisher and no one beside
him is capable of nourishing.
Once all the daughters were

seated with their mother and

he heard them discussing on
who is a giver. Rajni said
Almighty is the giver but all
the other daughters said that
their father is the giver. Duni
Chand over heard it and he
was furious. One day, he
called his daughters and
asked, “who is your giver?”
The 6 daughters said that it is
him but Rajni said it is Har
who nourishes. Listening to
this, he forsake his daughter.
From that day, he purposely
gave his 6 daughters many
gifts but never gave anything
to Rajni. So one day, he
decides to marry Rajni with a
leper. After searching, he
found one leper who was
handicapped (pingla) (Mohan)
and married Rajni off.
Nothing was given to Rajni
and while sending her off,
Duni said, “from now on this
is your husband. Ask from
your Almighty to nourish
both of you.” Rajni
respectfully agreed. Rajni
brought her husband and
begged for sustenances. Once
she left her husband at this
site and went to a town called
Tung. The day was Vaisakhi.
This site was a small pond. A
crow used to stay on this tree
and when another crow came

with a piece of bread. A fight

ensued between the crows.
Both of the crows whilst
fighting fell into the pond and
became swans. Mohan who
was sited below decided to
jump into the pool. He
crawled to the pond and due
to the fear of drowning, with
his 2 fingers he held onto
some grass. His entire body
was in the water and was
healed except for the 2
fingers. When Rajni came
back, she became angry as she
thought that this man had
killed her husband. Mohan
narrated the whole story and
showed his 2 leprosy finger.
Rajni did not accept.
The local farmers who heard
the commotion came and
tried to resolve. They gave the
suggestion to resolve it with
Guru Ram Das Ji who was
digging a Sarowar at
Santokhsar.
At the same time, an earthen
pot was unveiled at
Santokhsar where a man was
meditating. When The Sikhs
who were digging with a a
hoe hit the Yogi’s pot. He
woke up and spoke loudly.
Guru Ram Das Ji who was
nearby came and spoke with
the Yogi.

After getting answers from
Guru Ji, the yogi died and was
buried there. Guru Ji
prophesied that this site shall
become Pakka in the future.
Guru ji called Duni Chand
and told him on all the
occurrence. Duni asked for
forgiveness and he gave Rajni
and her husband his whole
estate and left to perform
devotion.
Guru Ram Das Ji named the
place on Guru Amar Das Ji
name as Amritsar. Bhagat
Singh Ji inquires, “I have
heard Guru Arjan Dev Ji
resolved the fight and named
this place.”
Bhai Mani Singh Ji says, “The
justification for the above is
based on Gurbani. Guru Ram
Das Ji has himself said in Raag
Gujri- Ang 492-3: Amritsar
Satgur Sat... Even Guru Arjan
Dev Ji has said on Ang 625
Ram Das Sarowar Naatey. So
Guru Ram Das Ji has name it
as Amritsar based on Guru
Amar Das and Guru Arjan
Dev Ji says it on his Guru’s
name, Ram Das Pur.”

the local villages greet Guru
Ji. Guru Ji asks them for a
place to stay and they
willingly offer their village.
After some time, many people
became Sikhs and seeing the
crowd around Guru Ji at all
times a local Yogi Shambu
Nath got jealous. He
instigated the locals by
slandering that Guru Ji is a
fugitive who is on the run and
a hypocrite. The locals
believing in him, came to
Guru Ji and rudely asked
Guru Ji to leave the place.
Guru Ji got into Bir Ras and
punched his fist onto a brick

which broke into 4 pieces.

Baba Buddha Ji who was there
rejoined the 3 pieces but the
4th was lost. Guru Ji then said
that a forth of land in this
village will be of no use. Guru
Ji then leaves the village and
goes to a village where a poor
Sikh lived by the name of
Hema. Guru Ji stayed at his
hut and the place is known as
Chapri Sahib. There another
Sikh Bhai Prema meets Guru
Ji. From there Guru Ji goes to
a village called, Bhaini. The
locals and village-head
respectfully serve Guru Ji.
The chief’s wife starts to
prepare food for Guru Ji and
the Sikhs but realises that it
will take her some time so she
prepares Churi (bread mashed
with ghee and sugar) for Guru
Ji. Guru Ji who is sitting
outside immediately feels
hungry because of her
devotion. When the food is
brought to Guru Ji, He blesses
her by uttering a Shabad
(SGGS Ang ). Guru Ji renames
the village into Chola. A Jat
(farmer) insists that it is
Bhaini and not Chola. He
repeats it for 3 types and Guru
Ji calls him mad. At that
instant, he becomes insane.
The village-head comes to
Guru Ji and accepts the new

name. When the time comes
for paying tax to the official,
the village-head seeks Guru
Ji’s blessings and sets forth to
Delhi. At Delhi, he tells the
officer that he is from Chola
Village. The officer recognises
him and tells that he is lying.
The matter goes to Jahangir
but the village-head insists it
is Chola as prescribed by
Guru Ji. Jahangir then orders
the records to be searched and
to the surprise of everyone, all
the records and map shows
Chola. Flabbergasted by this,
Jahangir calls the village-head
and asks him how is it
possible? He replies that Guru
Arjan Dev Ji has placed this
name. Jahangir bows his head
in reverence and makes the
village tax free in respect of
Guru Ji. Guru Ji stays in the
village for 2 years.
After the conclusion of this
Sakhi by Bhai Gurdas Ji, Guru
Ji is served by the same
village-head’s son and family.
Guru Ji stays there for 3 days
and then departs to Goindwal
Sahib.

they saw that Guru Ji has
camped in their village, they
rudely told Guru Ji to vacate
the area as they feared that
the area will become a place
of worship in the future. Guru
Ji uttered to them that His
place of worship shall remain
but their houses shall not and
Guru Ji left. Very soon, some
unrest occurred and all were
unrooted.
After hearing this Sakhi from
Guru Ji, all bowed at the place
where Guru Nanak Dev Ji sat
and went forward.
Next Guru Ji went to another

place which was in ruins.
Baba Bhana Ji again inquires
Guru Ji and Guru Ji looks at
Bhai Gurdas. Bhai Gurdas says
that Bhai Biddhi Chand is the

best person to narrate this

story. So, Bhai Biddhi Chand
Ji says;
Once Guru Arjan Dev Ji along
with 6 Sikhs came to a place
called as Khanpura which had
beautiful houses. The whole
was beautifully developed.
The weather at that time was
winter and it was raining. At
such cold temperatures, the
Sikhs requested a guru Ji so
that they may go and find a
place to stay. Guru Ji told
them that the inhabitants of
Khanpura are not good but in
order to remove doubt, Guru
Ji agreed. 5 Sikhs goes to
Khanpura while Bhai Gurdas
Ji stays with Guru Arjan Dev
Ji. The Sikhs see that the
inhabitants of Khanpura are
engrossed in vices. They are
smoking Hukka, having
prostitutes and are seeing
their dance. All of them fail to
find even one house who is
not performing the above.
Disappointed they come back
to Guru Ji and Guru Ji brings
them to a hut of His Sikh,
Bhai Hema Ji. Bhai Hema is
an extremely poor Sikh who
survives by grinding wheat.
When he sees that Guru Ji has
come into his hut, he gets
extremely excited and washes
the feet of Guru Ji and the

Sikhs and drink that water.
He then prepares with utmost
love and Guru Ji gets
extremely pleased at him.
Guru Ji utters a Shabad in
Raag Suhi. Later, Bhai Hema
Ji while in the presence of
Guru Ji, passes away and
merges with the Guru.

ashes into the Beas River so
that no remembrance of him

followed by Sukhmani Sahib
in the presence of Guru Ji.
Upon which, Bhai Gurdas Ji
places his head on Guru Ji’s
feet where he merges with
the formless. The day when
Bhai Ji merged was Bhadon
Sudi 5, 1686 Bk. (1629 CE).
Guru Ji washes Bhai Gurdas
Ji’s body and the body is
carried by Baba Bhana Ji, Bhai
Biddhi Chand Ji, Bhai Jetha Ji
and Guru Hargobind Sahib.
Guru Ji lights the pyre. On
the 4th day, Bhai Gurdas Ji’s
ashes are collected by Guru Ji
and placed into the river Beas.

a boy, Bhai Sadhu the son of
Sadaa [Sadhu]. She was
immediately engaged but the
Brahmin failed to see whether
or not they were Sikhs. When
Bhai Akil got to know that
the daughter has been
engaged to a non-Sikh family,
he was utterly disappointed
but he couldn’t do anything.
So after some years, Bibi Surti
was married off to Bhai
Sadhu.
As the marriage procession
was moving from Vadde Ghar
to Tuklani, they passed by
Droli where Bibi Surti hears
Asa Di Vaar. As the rest of the
procession was distant from
her palanquin, she bribed the
lifters and ran towards the
sound. When she arrives, she
sees Sri Guru Hargobind
Sahib Ji sitting on a throne.
She is delighted and bows at
the feet of Guru Ji and sits.
Guru Ji was at the Droli area
around the time of the birth
of Baba Gurditta Ji (1613 CE).

Seeing her clothes, Guru Ji

asks Bhai Biddhi Chand Ji to
inquire about her. She tells
her story that she has been
married off to the followers of
Sakhi Sarvar (a Muslim Pir)
and she is extremely sad.
Guru Ji in his benevolence
tells her not to worry as He
will change her destiny.
As soon as the groom and his
father, Sadaa realises that the
bride has gone to the Guru,
they get extremely angry.
Sadaa sends his son, Sadhu to
bring Surti back and never to
allow her to even say the
word Guru.
However when Bhai Sadhu in
anger reaches near Guru Ji, he
is immediately cooled off by
Guru Ji’s blissful sight and at
that instance becomes his
Sikh. Guru Ji gives a boon to
both the husband and wife
that a devotee will take birth
in their house.
As time passed, Bibi Surti
gave birth to a boy and when
he was one year old, he was
brought before Guru Ji at
Amritsar. Seeing the boy,
Guru Ji keeps his name, Roop
Chand.
On the 15th Vaisakh of 1688
Bk. (1631 CE), both the Bhai
Sadhu and his son Bhai Roop
Chand are gathering some

wood from the jungle and

they have kept a clay vessel of
water on some tree. As the
day came to afternoon and
both were thirsty, Bhai Sadhu
touches the clay vessel and
realises it is very cold amidst
hot weather. He does not
drink it and says it is only
worth for Guru Sahib. Later
Roop Chand goes to the vessel
and concurs with his father’s
view.
Both of the does not drink
any water and faints of
dehydration. Guru Ji who was
at Droli gets on his horse and
travels over 60 km to reach
them. Guru Ji sprinkles his
own water on them and when
they regain their
consciousness, Guru Ji
expresses that he is thirsty.
Both the father and son with
utmost love makes Guru Ji
drink the cold water. Guru Ji
then tells them to leave their
village of Tuklani as people
are envious of them.
All the 3 (Bibi Surti, Bhai
Sadhu and Bhai Roop Chand)
are brought to a new site by
Guru Ji.
The next day, on the 16th
Vaisakh, Guru Ji breaks the
ground and keeps the name,
Bhai Roopa and departs back
to Droli.

Chitar Sain was from an
island called Chitterpuri. He
had placed goods worth of 20
lakh on a ship for trading. The
profit was 50%. Upon sales,
when he was returning, a big
fish came into his way. All
methods to divert failed.
There a sailor who was a Sikh
told me to pray to Guru. He
prayed and promised to pay
500 gold coins. Guru Ji
appeared in his concentration
and all the issues were
resolved. On the way to Guru
Ji at Kartarpur, he met few
Sikhs who told him that Guru
Ji is extremely pleased on the
person who brings horse,
elephant. So he purchased a
horse worth 16 lakh. He made
a white Chola, bought a white
falcon, exquisite turban cloth

and extremely expensive

khanda.
Narrating his entire story, he
placed all the gifts and placed
his forehead on Guru Ji’s feet.
Guru Ji placed his hand on his
back and uttered, “You are
great (Dhan). Your entire
lineage shall be liberated. No
worries or problems will ever
come near you. Ask what you
wish?” Chitar Sain asked for
Sikhi and Sidak (faith).
Guru Ji then gifted the gifts to
the following:
White falcon- Baba Gurditta
Ji
Horse, Chola and Khanda-
Painda Khan
Painda Khan got extremely
prideful while returning
home. He met his son-in-law,
Asman Khan who demanded
for all the gifts.
Asman Khan threatened to
kill himself by crying infront
of his mother-in-law. When
Painda reached home, his
wife said that give the gifts to
Asman Khan. Painda decline
by saying it is the gift of
Guru. Wife got angry and
took all the gifts. Painda was
extremely sad.
Next day, Asman Khan wore
all the gifts and went to the
jungle to hunt (just like was
told by Guru Ji). On the other

hand, Baba Gurditta Ji was
looking for Painda Khan.
There Baba Ji saw a Chakwa
bird and sent his white falcon.
As the falcon was not hungry,
it flew past it and went
forward. Asman Khan saw it
and he kidnapped it.
When Painda saw the falcon,
he told Asman to return it to
the Guru and ask for
forgiveness. Asman replied,
“how can you be a servant of
the Hindu guru? We are
Muslim. That Guru has
stollen a falcon from Shah
Jahan. I am ready to fight
with them.”
Baba Ji sent Sikhs to look out
for the falcon. They
pinpointed the location to
Chote Mir. But when the
Sikhs asked Painda, his son-
in-law Replied that he hasn’t
seen it.
When Baba Ji came to Guru
Ji, Guru Ji asked on the falcon.
Baba Ji narrated the whole
incident.

Painda and asked him to come
along as Guru Ji has
summoned him. Listening to
this, Painda was deeply
worried but he still walked
with the Sikh. Guru Ji asks
why hasn’t he worn the gifts
given to him? Painda lies for 3
times saying that he has come
in a hurry so he has no time
to adorn them.
Guru Ji then asks another
question, “You have also kept
the falcon with you. Why
so?” Painda lies and says Guru
Ji is misinformed. 3 times
Painda lies about the falcon.
Painda now got angry with
his eyes turning red.
Guru Ji then calls Biddhi
Chand Ji and says in his ears,
“Go to Chhota Mir and bring
back all the gifts from his
house immediately.” It was
around afternoon when
Biddhi Chand reached the
house. As Asman Khan was
taking a nap, Biddhi Chand Ji
took all the gifts.

Guru Ji again asks Painda to

bring the falcon to him and
he can take it back. Painda
denies and swears on Guru Ji’s
feet for 3 times.
Guru Ji then looks at Biddhi
Chand and tells him to show
all the gifts to the sinner,
Painda. Guru Ji then utters,
“Look at all of these, you
sinner. You lied.” Guru Ji’s
eyes turned red and with a
loud voice said, “Remove him
from this court immediately.”
Listening this, Sikhs came
rushing and bashed Painda
and threw him out.
After throwing him out,
Painda cries that he shall
complain this to Shah Jahan.
Guru Ji replied, “Do as you
please. You will reap what
you sow.” In anger Painda
returned to Chhota Mir.
Asman Khan’s uncles's
[Chacha] son, Qutub Khan
was the recently appointed
governor of Jalandhar. They
decided to cry for help from
him.
Painda started instigating the
local Afghans against Guru Ji
by saying that Guru Ji is a
Hindu who steals and that He
may also occupy their houses.
He was gathering support for
his cause to attack on Guru Ji.

Qutub Khan told Painda to
ask forgiveness from Guru Ji
as he has betrayed the Guru.
Painda got angry and said that
Qutub is biased as he has
eaten Karah Parshad. Qutub
replied, “Yes I might have but
you on the other hand has
been sustaining on in it.”
Painda starts pleading and fell
on Qutub’s feet to convince
him. At last, Qutub agreed. So
everyone departs to meet
Shah Jahan.
It was now Jeth when Painda
reached Lahore

balcony. She went into the
room and woke Shah Jahan
who agreed to meet them in
the morning.
Painda came the next
morning to Shah Jahan. Wazir
Khan tells Shah Jahan that
Painda is someone who has
betrayed his master.
Somehow, Shah Jahan agrees
to send an army to Guru Ji.

Bhai Anenti Ji used to serve
water and Degh. Once a
Langari came to Anenti Ji to
stand near the Langar to shu
away the crows. He made
small mud balls to hit the
crows. As the kneading of
dough was being done, a crow
came to eat some of it. Anenti
scared it away but the crow
was persistent. The second
time when it came, Anenti
threw the ball at it, injuring
the wing and feet of the crow.
Now the crow was unable to
fly and was suffering.
When Guru Ji came to
consume food, He saw and
gave some food to the injured
crow. But many other crows
came and took the feed
instead. Seeing the pains of
the crow, Guru Ji said,
“Whoever who has caused
this injury to the crow will go
to hell.” Immediately, the
crow became healthy and
flew away happily.
Anenti heard this and was
extremely saddened and he

went to his father and said
that the injury inflicted was
unintentional.
The Sanggat returned but
both of them stayed back. As
the days went, Anenti grew
weaker. At last, the Sikhs
suggested them to go to Bhai
Biddhi Chand Ji. Bhai Sahib
agreed.
Once when Guru Ji went for
hunting and was resting near
Chhota Mir. Biddhi Chand in
humility came and pleaded.
Bhai Ji said “please forgive
Bhai Anenti Ji and instead
give the hell.” Guru Ji replied,
“Dhan, Dhan. I take back
those words I uttered. Instead
the dwellers of this village
will go to hell. Chhota Mir
will perish. A natural disaster
will destroy their houses and
it will be turn into a road.”
As time passed, it was now
the month of Harh.

“Dear Sikhs, purify your
hands by painting a portrait of
Guru Ji of what is visible
before you.” The Sikh said it
can only be done by the grace
of the Guru. The painting was
then commissioned by the son
with Guru Ji in-front of him.
Within 1.5 hours, the
painting was commissioned.
Once Guru Ji returned to
Kartarpur, a Sikh came to
Guru Ji and said that an army
is coming towards Kartarpur.
He had seen them at
Jalandhar. Guru Ji said not to
worry. Whoever who comes
to the Guru Nanak’s house
with anger shall turn into ash.
Guru Ji was seated at the
place he had played Chaupar

painting to Bhai Biddhi
Chand Ji. Bhai Sahib was
pleased and he placed it
infront of Guru Ji. Upon
inspection, Guru Ji was
pleased. The Sikhs were
liberated. The painting was

saw this, questioned Guru Ji
that, why wasn’t his gift was
not accepted but the Sikh one
is. Guru Ji replied, “just like
the affection of water and
milk so is the relation of a
Sikh and a Guru. You on the
other hand is similar to
vinegar who separates water
and milk.” Khan again asks,
“Then why did you hide this
Chaupar? I challenge you to
play with me. What shall we
gamble?” Guru Ji replied,
“Such things don’t happen

here. We don’t bet or gamble
here. I will play with you but
without betting. However,
you may bet but I would not.”
Saying this, Guru Ji opened
the game. Khan placed a bet
of 500 gold coins if he loose.
Khan lost 3 times and he
owed 1,500 gold coins. The
game was closed.
Khan started badmouthing
Guru Ji but Guru Ji was
unaffected. But the Khan now
badmouthed Guru Nanak.
Guru Ji in Bir Ras uttered,
“Whoever who hits their
shoes to this Khan will never
have to face the angels of
death.”
The Sikhs rushed and started
to hit him profusely. Guru Ji
left the place to his residence.
There Jati Malak tells Guru Ji
on the advancing forces under
Painda Khan. Guru Ji forgave
the Khan. He returned in ego
and told Painda that the Guru
is not prepared and forces are
scanty.

Jati Malak, Bhai Amia Ji, Baba
Mehar Chand. Bhai Lakhu,
Amia and Mehar Chand were
the first who went to the
defence. They had 500 Sikhs.
12,000 afghans of Doaba were
dispatched to fight with the
Sikhs. The battle went on for
4 Gharis (1hour 36 hours)
when the Afghans were
loosing terribly. Kaley Khan
came with 20,000. Seeing the
incoming forces, the morale
of Sikhs rose even greater.
Kutub Khan was also fighting
in the battle.
Guru Ji sent Bhai Biddhi
Chand and Bhai Jati Malak
with some Sikhs to the battle.
Janawar Khan killed along

with many other high ranking
officials.
Painda saw Guru Ji and came
charging with his sword.
Guru Ji was alone at that time.
Guru Ji blocked his attack
trice. The third time, he
attacked with such
momentum that his sword
broke. He decided to now
jump on Guru Ji’s horse and
catch Guru Ji and bring him
back to the enemies.
Guru Ji’s horse moved and
fell. He then came under Jaan
Bhai and decided to make
guru Ji fall from his horse.
Guru Ji with his left hand, hit
Painda’s forehead and he fell.
Guru Ji came down from his
horse and told him to ready.
Guru Ji’s sword made a
sagittal attack. While falling,
guru Ji told him to read his
prayers. While falling he
replied that Guru Ji’s sword is
his prayer.
Guru Ji became benevolent
and tears came from his eyes.
While Painda is dying, Guru
Ji provided shade to him with
his shield. His soul exited
from his eyes and merged in
Guru Ji.

them. Guru Ji then shoots an
arrow at Qutub and he fell. In
the one to one battle, Guru Ji
beheads him.

along with him and left.
Once, everyone reached
Gangsar, Bhai Biddhi Chand
said everyone has come
except for Dhirmal and his
mother. Guru Ji smiled and
said he is the incarnation of
deceit just like Prithi Chand.

replied, “There is no place
like this anywhere. I in my

meditated here.” Listening to
this, Bhai Biddhi Chand Ji

Going further, Guru Ji
stopped at a place to urinate
and Bhai Biddhi Chand Ji
decided to get some water for
Guru Ji’s horse (Jaan Bhai).
However, the moment Jaan
Bhai [Dilbagh] drank the
water, it died. That was 1.5
hours before sunset. When
Guru Ji returned, he was in
Vairag.

my tiger, I will believe he is a
godly man. When Bhai Ji
looked at it, the tiger became
a stone.

Anenti Ji and told the news.
Upon hearing, she was
surprised and she told
Dhirmal to let’s go to
Kiratpur. Dhirmal replied, he
has no relation with any of
them and he will never leave
Kartarpur. Mata Ji left and
departed to Kiratpur.
Over at Kiratpur, Guru
Hargobind Sahib along with
Sri Har Rai Sahib collected
the ashes of Baba Gurditta Ji.
Baba Bhana Ji was called to
come over.
All the relatives came and the
ceremony was completed
with everyone tying turbans

asked Baba Sundar that why
hasn’t Baba Datu Ji’s son come
over. Baba Sundar Ji replies
that the son of Baba Datu Ji
has joined hands with
Dhirmal.

then said, it is not right to get

his elder brother is still single.
Guru Ji immediately sends a
messenger to Dhirmal. After 3
days, the messenger reached
and Dhirmal said many ill
words for Guru Ji. Guru Ji was
not moved but instead said he
is the incarnation of Prithi
Chand and Sikhs should never
associate with him or their
followers/lineage.
Preparation for Sri Har Rai Ji’s
engagement was started with
Baba Bhana Ji and other
senior Sikhs suggested that
the best day is on the day
itself. Many celebration were

held and at the conclusion
Dya Raam plead that the
wedding date should be fixed.
The date was fixed on 17
Harh.
Dya Raam had 3 wives. From
the first and second wife, they
had 3 daughters each. From
the third, they had 1
daughter. Dya Raam was very
wealthy.

was started on both sides.

Biddhi Chand Ji then called
his son, Laal Chand and
presented him to Guru Ji.
After meeting Sundar Shah
both met each other with
respect. Both sat infront of
each other and performed
Japji Sahib.
Seeing the end of Bhai Biddhi
Chand, Guru Nanak Dev Ji
sent 5 Sikhs to invite Bhai
Biddhi Chand Ji to
Sachkhand: Bhai Gurdas Ji,
Bhai Paira, Bhai Pirana, Bhai
Jetha Ji , Bhai Lengha Ji.
Bhai Gurdas Ji looked at Bhai
Biddhi Chand and said, “You
are great who have performed
great service of the Guru.
Now all the 5 Gurus are
waiting for you and come
with me without any delay.”
Bhai Biddhi Chand bowed his
head and left his body. Seeing
this, Sundar Shah too passed
away. The day was Bhadon
Sudi 8. 45 minutes before
sunrise was the time.

over to Guru Ji.” Babak bowed
his head and he took all his 4
sons to Guru Ji and said,
“Guru Ji, they are all yours.”
Upon saying this, Babak
bowed on Guru Ji’s feet and
left his body.
Guru Ji then called Abdul and
Natha to perform the final
rites. The Kirtani of Guru
Sahib was Babak’s son now.

the deities came in the form
of saints and placed their
heads on Guru Ji’s feet. When
the Sikhs who were sitting in
the Sanggat, opened their
eyes, they saw a big group of
saints. Only selected Sikhs
that were blessed by Guru Ji
were able to see their real
form. The deities then
continue to praise Guru Ji in
the form of 24 various
incarnations. Upon the
completion of their praises,
Guru Ji assured them that He
will depart from this body the
next day. Baba Bhana Ji was
astonished and he requested,
“Dear Guru Ji, please bless me
with the vision so I too can
see whoever who comes to
visit you.” Guru Ji blesses
Baba Ji with the vision.

After this, Guru Ji wore a
yellow Chola. Sri Guru Har
Rai Sahib Ji is standing in-
front of Guru Hargobind
Sahib Ji. Guru Ji then uttered
to the Sanggat present, “All of
you are liberated. I am now
going to Guru Nanak. No one
should cry. Instead Kirtan
should be sung. Serve the
Gursikhs. Have the hope only

on Guru Nanak. Whoever
who wishes to have my
glimpses can look at Sri Har
Rai. He will fulfil all your
wishes.” Bibi Viro Ji got
extremely sad. Guru Ji
comforted her.
Guru Ji then uttered a Shabad,
at Ang 1018 (Chandna
Chadan Aagan Prabh Jio
Antar Chadna…)
Upon uttering the Shabad as a
final sermon to the Sikhs,
Guru Ji placed his head on Sri
Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji’s feet
and merged with the
formless.
Baba Suraj Mal Ji performed
the final rites of Guru Ji’s
body. Baba Rup Chand, Baba
Bhana Ji, Rai Jodh Ji and Baba
Suraj Mal Ji carried Guru Ji’s
body. A sandalwood pyre was
made on the banks of Satluj
River.
Baba Bhana Ji said that
whoever is cremated here will
go to Sachkhand. All of the
prayers were done and the
ashes were collected. Baba
Bhana Ji then handed over his
son, Baba Sarvan Ji to Sri
Guru Har Rai Ji before leaving
to Ramdas.
