Yesterday, June 6, 1944, the Allies secured 5 beachheads in Normandy.

The Nazi’s had

conquered France in 1940 and have had a tight hold until now when a combined force of
American, British, and Canadian soldiers with Polish, Czech, and French resistance
landed in Normandy after a year of preparations to finally liberate France.

In the battle Nazi general Wilhelm Falley was killed by US paratroopers who played a
decisive part in securing the beaches. The Allies suffered less casualties than expected
and it is believed that the Germans suffered high casualties. Estimates say that anywhere
from 10% to 33% of German soldiers were killed in the battles at Normandy. It is
believed that the Allies have landed 130,000 troops and 20,000 airborne troops in their
full commitment to liberate France.

Supreme Commander of Allied Forces. Dwight D. Eisenhower stated in an official

statement, “The Japanese back in 1941 with their Nazi allies attacked Pearl Harbor,
Guam, Wake Island, Midway Island, and the Philippines. They expected us to fold. For
our allies to fold, but now we have all come together and have liberated Normandy. It is
their turn to fold... Northern France will soon be liberated and by the end of the year we
will have those square heads with their ignorant leader pushed past the Rhine... It is the
start of the end for the Nazis.” It seems clear the Allies will fight the good fight and win
the war.
