Go back to page 6 and choose 5 out of the 10 principles that are being satisfied by an
effective language arts and multiliteracies curriculum. Write your chosen principles and
explain each 5 here briefly.

1. Builds on the language, experiences, knowledge and interests that

students bring to school.

Every student brings something to the classroom, and getting to know the
students' histories and prior knowledge allows them to participate in literacy
activities that are appropriate for their various backgrounds, allowing them to
build on this information.

2. Develops thinking and language through interactive learning.

Because interactive learning is based on a hands-on approach, students

become more involved in the topics. It also aids in the development of critical
thinking and problem-solving abilities in kids.

3. Provides explicit skill instruction in reading and writing.

Explicit instruction, often known as "completely directed" practice, is a

type of explicit instruction. The information processing model, a learning theory,
emphasizes explicit instruction. It is founded on the premise that we only recall
what we think about and think about again.

4. Develop communicative competence and critical literacy.

This one is all about understanding successful and suitable

communication patterns and being able to apply that information in a variety of
situations.
5. Develop students oral language and literacy through appropriately
challenging learning.

Oral language is essential for all children because they will use it in all aspects
of their education, including in the classroom as they interact with their peers
and teachers, as well as throughout their life. It also assists pupils in developing
their confidence and becoming effective communicators.

Discussion Board

A. Discuss the following philosophy and rationale of the K-12 LAMC by way of providing
instances or example situations that illustrate each item.

1. Language is the basis of all communication and the primary instrument of thought.

In a job interview, the interviewer typically uses language to ask questions about
the individual in front of him/her in order to learn more about that person and determine
whether or not that person is qualified for the position. The job seeker will respond to
the interviewer using language to represent herself/himself and ensure that the
interviewer understands what she/he is thinking. Through language, both of them can
communicate properly, understand each other, and know each other well so that it will
be easy for the interviewer to classify if the job seeker is really qualify for the
position/job within an hour. Without language, it will be hard for them to build a good
communication since they are both strangers.

2. Language is the foundation of all human relationships.

Maria is a new student of CBSUA, and today is her first day. Maria used to be a
lively person, which is why she was able to quickly attract the attention of one of her
classmates, Andy. Maria drew Andy's interest because she used to be a talkative
person. They used to converse about their lives and their experiences. They quickly
form a bond and become close friends as a result of their use of language.

B. Do the same procedure here in discussing these selected guiding principles:

1. All languages are interrelated and interdependent.
Andrea drew on her previous knowledge to expand and improve her language
and comprehension. Andrea improved her language fluency and competency by
learning and assimilating new language structures and using them in a range of
scenarios.

2. Language acquisition and learning is an active process that begins at birth and
continues throughout life.

Angelo is a 5-year-old boy who learned language spontaneously in his early

years but has since learned specific language norms and norms. He is now able to
reproduce and use language to develop and transmit fresh meaning in unique ways as
she grows older.

3. Learning requires meaning.

Jonathan doesn't entirely comprehend the title of the poetry that his classmate
wants him to analyze, but after deciding to read the poem, he gradually comprehends
the idea or meaning of his classmate's poem. Jonathan is delighted after reading the
entire poem since he is now able to analyze it because he already understands it and
has gained a lot of knowledge.
