Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics

Philippines most important part of a meal

Different places have different and unique cultures. Culture

is all the way of life including art, music, cooking, beliefs,
practices, and tradition passed from generation to
generation. Like what people eat from a specific place can
be completely different from other places because of their
different culture and history. In the Philippines, almost
every meal, Filipinos will eat with rice most of the time. A
meal is incomplete when rice is absent from the table
unlike other countries like United States for example,
where the meal consists of bread, meat and vegetables.
Rice has become a staple food in a Filipino meal.
Filipino Meal

A Filipino meal is different from any other meals from other

places as it almost always comes with rice. Rice is
significant to a Filipino meal while places like the U.S. only
eat mostly meat and vegetables in their meal. Filipinos eat
rice because it has been a part of their culture and history.
It became a staple for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and
sometimes even for snacks. It became a norm to eat rice
with every meal. U.S. citizens will eat eggs and bacons or
pancakes for breakfast while in the Philippines, people will
still eat their meal with rice for breakfast. A meal without
rice would almost not even be considered as a meal
because rice is the most significant part to a Filipino meal.
American Meal

In conclusion, different places do have different and unique cultures. Like the eating norm and
practices from the Philippines that are completely different from places like United States, but
people still need to respect these different norms and practices from other place and respect their
culture.
