SAS Visual Analytics 1 for SAS® Viya®: Basics

In this course, you perform tasks for the demonstrations and practices in SAS Viya for Learners, an
external software environment that is linked from the course. The software opens in a browser
window.

Opening SAS Viya for Learners from the Course

The preferred browsers for SAS Viya for Learners (in order) are Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. If you
are using a different browser, we strongly recommend that you stop now and sign in to the course
with one of the recommended browsers.

1. Click Launch SAS Viya for Learners 3.5 to access the software for the course. The link is
located in a block on the right side of the course page.
2. Sign in with the same email and password that you use to access your SAS training.

Each time that you work in the course, we recommend that you open SAS Viya for Learners at the
beginning of the session, keep the software window open throughout the session, and then sign out
of SAS Viya for Learners at the end of the session.

Note: Your work in SAS Viya for Learners might be deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

Demonstrations and Practices in this Course

Every demo and practice in this course uses a starter plan or starter report. These plans and reports
often contain data and report objects. This ensures that all students are starting from the same point.

 All starter plans and starter reports for the demos are located in
SAS Content/Courses/YVA185/Basics/Demos (Marketing).
 All starter plans and starter reports for the practices are located in
SAS Content/Courses/YVA185/Basics/Practices (HR).

When you finish completing a demo or a practice, you need to save the plans and reports (with your
changes) to your My Folder location.

Loading Data to CAS

In this course, you create plans that use CAS tables as input and create CAS tables as output.

 When you add a CAS table to the plan that is not currently available, it can be located on the
Data Sources tab, on the cas-v4exxx-default server, and in the YVA185 library.
 When you save a plan that creates a CAS table, store it on the cas-v4exxx-default server in the
YVA185 library.

Results in SAS Viya

SAS Viya is the latest extension of the SAS Platform. Due to the distributed nature of this flexible
computing environment, results from different sessions will be similar but likely not identical.
Likewise, the results that you see while working in SAS Viya for Learners might be different from the
results that appear in the course.
