• The aim of the first part of the assignment is to
RESEARCH (CASE choose a future city and explain its design
philosophy, concept and environmental principles.
S T U DY ) Oceanix future city is what's going to be
explained in this assignment. At the UN offices in
New York, the first floating city prototype in the
world that can adapt to sea level rise has just been
revealed. OCEANIX Busan, located in South
Korea, intends to offer ground-breaking
technologies to coasts that are threatened by
climate change and a lack of available land. Itai
Madamombe and Marc Collins Chen launched the
blue tech business OCEANIX in 2018 with the
goal of designing and constructing floating cities
so that people can live sustainably on the ocean.
The world's top designers, engineers, and
sustainability specialists collaborated to create the
flood-proof prototype under the direction of New
York-based Oceanix.
OCEANIX CITY DESIGN
DESIGN POINTS

• Three interconnected platforms totaling 15.5 acres make up the floating city's
architecture, which would first house 12,000 residents before growing to 100,000. Each
of the platforms serves a particular function—living, research, and lodging—and the
link-span bridges that join them to the land create a protected lagoon that may be used
for boating activities.
• Sustainability is yet another crucial aspect of the design. To ensure that the floating
metropolis reuses and wastes as little as possible, the OCEANIX Busan features six
integrated systems that are focused on energy, food, water, waste, mobility, and coastal
habitat regeneration.
• Photovoltaic panels on rooftops and floating structures will produce all the city's
operating energy requirements.
• Each neighborhood will have its own water treatment and replenishment system,
resource reduction and recycling initiatives, and food production in urban farms.
• In this picture it shows the key
principles or the key words for
all the ages. Kids, Adults and old
age people. They are the points
that are found and are focused
on the concept of this project.

• Every day, the sea levels are rising. Additionally, 90% of the world's biggest cities are
expected to be underwater by 2050. Millions of people may have to relocate due to
coastal erosion and flooding that could result from this. In addition to having long,
dynamic lines and curves, futuristic architecture must also be able to produce inventive
solutions for any difficulties that humans may encounter in the future. Therefore, as a
response to this worldwide issue, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has put out a concept for
the Oceanix City, the first robust floating town in the world that will accommodate
10,000 people. With on-site production of food, water, and energy resources as well as
efficient waste management, it is intended to function as a sustainable man-made
ecosystem. The first location being considered for the construction of this marine
metropolis is close to the Pearl River Delta.

• A group led by Bjarke Ingels BIG. a campus

setting and innovation cluster that aims to
introduce a novel and innovative method of
teaching. This amazing building will be situated
in Denmark's Jutland and will be surrounded by
water. BIG's attempt to construct a complete
metropolis from scratch. Only bridges will
provide access to the interesting geometric
structure, which will be elevated seven meters
above sea level. It will be 13,700 square meters in
size and have a central park in addition to a
roofscape that zigzags around. Wind and noise
will be kept out of this magnificent park. The
campus will serve as a sanctuary, providing a
fascinating contrast to the bustling industrial
harbor.
• The unique perimeter wall has geometric
white walls that are accented by large
windows that offer breathtaking views of the
park and the sea. The walls will deftly fold
around the building's asymmetrical design,
follow the center park with ease, and then
change in height to form the roofscape.
Another significant aspect being incorporated
into the campus' construction is sustainability.
Eleven of the seventeen Sustainable
Development Goals of the United Nations
will be accomplished by the site, which will
be entirely powered by renewable energy. The
building's top will also get a lovely green roof,
which will have a 1,000-meter-long walkway.

• The physical roots of this

modular construction technique
go back thousands of years. In
place of the standard gabion cage
design's filling of rubble to
produce inexpensive foundations,
it uses locally produced, upcycled
floating support to hold whatever
structure is constructed on top.
Since the flat-packed cages are
constructed from reinforced
recycled plastic, it is simpler to
carry and assemble these robust
modules on-site.

Although the teeming undersea life may not be aware of what
has been done, gradually the marine creatures may also learn to
adapt. As an artificial reef where certain marine creatures can
take sanctuary, some are also anticipated to live inside the
concrete shell. The building itself has exceptionally sturdy
concrete walls that can endure pressure and shock. Diners may
take in the stunning panoramic view of the seabed through a
sizable horizontal glass that measures eleven meters wide and 3.4
meters tall. You can still appreciate the view in all four seasons
and diverse weather patterns even without those mouthwatering
dinners. As you descend the steps into the restaurant, you will
notice the lovely ceiling panels with the cloth in the color of the
sunset. The woven panels give the structure a soft, tranquil
appearance that is nearly entirely unthreatening. As you descend
and enter the foyer covered in lovely oak, which extends into the
restaurant's interior and cordially invites customers to their seats,
you'll notice how snug, stylish, and modern it is. Each chair is
handmade, so you can tell that even in their unfinished state,
they are beautiful.

• On October 20, 2022, Starbucks will open a special

new store in Daegu, South Korea. A traditional Korean
home known as a "Hanok," which has been there for
more than a century, was transformed to create the
lovely store. The house's interior and exterior have
both been designed in a traditional manner. A brick
foundation is built on top of an exposed timber
framework, a tiled gabled roof , and decorative
embellishments that define the entire area. Many of
the orig inal features, including the roof , rafters,
columns, floors, and beams, have been kept and
maintained. A f ascinating and lovely blend of old and
modern elements may be found in the cafe. The rooms
open up into a tranquil outdoor garden, and the wide,
roomy interiors have dry gardens built into the
flooring.
