AUSPICIOUS

The transition of the bulky old oil tanks into the curvaceous dream cruise “The Auspicious”
was indeed a challenge besides being a creative journey.
This two-decked super luxury party cruise gives a 360-degree panoramic view of the
beautiful shoreline of Kolkata.
It is conceptualized on the Irish mythological island Tír na nÓg which depicts a paradise and
a supernatural realm of everlasting youth, beauty, health, abundance, and joy.
The final design reshaped the marine vessel with free-flowing curve walls punctuated with
glass panels.
The meandering walls of the cruise were designed to be doubly curved, creating a dynamic
effect that would shimmer while re-reflecting the sunlight from the river during the day.
With its colossal size, an open deck area, and hi-tech modern amenities The Auspicious has
become the first of its kind in Kolkata.

THE NEOTIA UNIVERSITY

The design of the Neotia University is envisioned to empower and spread education beyond
the four walls of classrooms and promote interdisciplinary real-world learning.
With podiums at different heights coupled with stairs along with the play of light and
shadow, accentuates the feeling of seeing through a huge camera taking urban scenes into
its viewfinder and showcasing various scenes composed of themselves for the students who
tread the scholastic path through the campus.
The three-level Sun lounge is the primary focal point of the academic block. It was first
visualized and then classrooms were designed around it.
Apart from creating a vast interesting space, the sun lounge also provides a white canvas for
the sun to create and draw lines on it.
Just like a Mobius strip, the external wall of the building twists itself and wraps inside the
school building resulting in spaces that could neither be defined as interior nor exterior.

Planters and seats are placed all along these terraces creating a combination of small and
large groups.
The entrance gate to the campus has been designed following the golden ratio providing a
warm yet imposing entrance that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also educates the
students about the enigmatic golden mean ratio.
Various outdoor spaces in the building are so designed that they are rain protected by using
the Japanese concept of the rain chain, an attractive alternative to the common unappealing
rainwater downspouts.
The design features straight lines and simple colors inspired by the De Stijl art movement
making the façade lively and breaking monotony.

The intent was to orient toward building a framework for the students to thrive and
improve one’s quality of life by embracing a unique perspective.

CELICA SECURITY ROOM

We envisioned the building as a perforated metal sheet wrapped around a glass box giving
the structure a distinctive yet elegant appearance.
The glass box played a primary role in acknowledging the natural light entering the building
and also allowing the occupants to enjoy a clear and unobstructed view to make them feel
connected to the surroundings. On the other hand, the perforated metal sheet controls the
amount of sunlight entering the building.
The bright colors made the interior look vibrant and lively side by side using exposed steel
beams to give an industrial finish.
The motive was to design a simple yet sophisticated work environment aiming to be user-
friendly.

STAR THEATRE
We take immense pride to be a part of the facelift/preservation of this historical hub of
Bengali drama and convey it proudly to the future.
The motive was to blend modern facilities with the heritage culture without hampering the
essence of this palatial theatre.
All the alteration was done without demolishing the façade that survived the 1991 blaze.
The rest of the theatre was ravished and completely rebuilt along modern lines.
The entire revamp plan revolves around the rooftop plaza that can also be utilized as an
open-air theatre where the actors and audience share a common undivided space. The
motive was to bring the people to the plaza even if they are not interested in the play being
staged, eventually converting them into theatergoers.
The structure is the perfect example of showing the direction of the development in
architecture and turning it into a cultural hotspot.
GITANJALI GALLERY
The focus was on the journey of eminent polymath toward the treasured accolade as we got
the opportunity to house the first Nobel prize in India.
The serene ambiance effectively transported one to Tagore’s world as we move through the
numerous visuals and sculptures.
The gallery is carefully designed in a chronological sequence heralding the onset of a
journey on the path of the Gitanjali.
Appropriate illumination further enhances the experience as one is humbled or
overwhelmed by contrastingly lit-up space.
It was a contentious task of making an entire museum based on a book, one of the first kind
in the world.

TCS- GITOBITAN
Kolkata’s first-ever large-scale, high stake digital examination center TCS Gitobitan opened
its door in sector V to meet the aspirations and expectations of all the test-taking students.
The building is in the form of glass boxes erratically placed over the vertical brick framework
at different levels reflecting the blue sky the allegory being ‘ only through hard work can one
reach the sky’.
We have tried to establish a continuity between vernacular and modern architecture by
combining the brick matrix with the double-glazed glass and the terraces at different levels
of the building create breakout spaces that initiate a connection with the surrounding.
The large and flexible floor plate design allows the modular arrangement of rooms,
accommodating 4000 students at a time, therefore, titled ‘The World’s largest examination
hub’.
AXIS MALL
We envisioned Axis mall with a passion for perfection and pursuit of beauty and grace.
This sophisticated progressive commercial environment promises a memorable retail
experience for the public hence making it a perfect leisure destination.
Added drama to the surfaces by blending colonial architecture with modern to revive the
vibrant atmosphere of old Kolkata.
The transition from old to new can be experienced as one enters into this white
monumental structure.
From Doric columns, and wall arches on a white backdrop to a spirited, colorful, lively
interior integrates the building and brings out the essence of the bustling Kolkata
