Sustainability
The study of how natural systems function, remain diverse and produce everything it needs
for the ecology to remain in balance. It also acknowledges that human civilisation takes
resources to sustain our modern way of life (United States Environmental Protection Agency,
2016).
Social Responsibility
Being Socially Responsible means that people and organisations must behave ethically and
with sensitivity toward social, cultural, economic and environmental issues. Striving for
social responsibility helps individuals, organisations and governments have a positive impact
on development, business and society with a positive contribution to bottom-line results
(Enevoldson, 2018).
The company was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford and 11 associate investors. In 1919 the
company was reincorporated, with Ford, his wife, Clara, and his son, Edsel, acquiring full
ownership; they, their heirs, and the Ford Foundation (formed 1936) were sole stockholders
until January 1956, when public sale of the common stock was first offered. The company
manufactures passenger cars, trucks, and tractors as well as automotive parts and accessories.
Headquarters are in Dearborn, Michigan (Britannica, 2018).

long commitment to making it easier for persons with disabilities (and those who care for
them) to purchase and adapt vehicles to fit their individual wants and needs. Also, at their
sustainability report in 2018, the company declared that they want to reduce the climate
change by reducing vehicle emissions, implementing Efficient, state-of-the-art
manufacturing, supporting their suppliers to drive positive change, among others.
