Persuasive Script about Non-Profit Organization

● Had the idea of helping others ever crossed in your mind but then you stopped
because of time?
● If you have not been doing so, it's time to get down to work
● Did you know that hundreds of young boys from the poorest neighborhoods of La
Paz, Baja California Sur often try to find work washing cars, windows or other
businesses to help with the family income instead of going to school.
● Fortunately, there is an organization trying to reduce that problem.
● Fundación Ayuda Niños La Paz (FANLAP by its acronym in spanish) is a non-profit
organization that helps disadvantaged powerless mexican children in La Paz, Baja
California Sur.
● Its vision is: “To be seen as a professional, committed and transparent organization
which offers an alternative to solve the social problems of the community”.
● The foundation declared that they could provide basic support of food and education
for children and adolescents from impoverished areas to give them the opportunity to
complete their education and improve the quality of their lives.
● Many of those children have not had more than a third grade education.
● Because of that, the foundation is providing financial help to junior and senior high
school students to enable them to obtain more than six years of education.
● Let's give a bit of background. The foundation was founded in 1996, starting a
breakfast kitchen in a small chapel owned by the Catholic Church. A few years later
and with the help of the donations from Club Cruceros de La Paz, the foundation
expanded to the children education.
● The reason for its founding was because from the past few decades, La Paz has
been increasing its infrastructure. In the 70s and 80s, a building boom began, so
workmen poured into the area from the mainland of Mexico, bringing their wives and
children. Many of them worked on short-lived constructions, but when it was finished,
some workers didn’t find another job, forcing them to return to their birthplaces,
leaving their family behind to fend for themselves.
● Nowadays, FANLAP is involved in several programs, all of them focused in helping
disadvantaged children. Some of the most popular ones are: The Breakfast and
Lunch Programs, where, as I just said, breakfast is still being served in a new dining
room and kitchen built on a Catholic Church; The Library and Study Center Program,
in which they not only supply books, furniture and index cards but they also trained a
librarian who is paid by FANLAP; they also have a Scholarship Program and the
Child Psychology Program, where the organization will have been offering

psychological consults for the children they help from the moment they arrive until
they leave.
● FANLAP regularly offers meetings opened to everyone who wants to join them. The
volunteers can work in three different areas: kitchen, library or fundraising.
● If you do not like the volunteer's living conditions, you can make a donation.
● In fact, Tax deductible donations may be made payable to International Community
Foundation, only by sending a check or clicking on donations section at the
organization website.
● By doing that, you will be helping needy children to achieve their dreams.
● Last, but not least. I just want you to remember that the more you help, the more
children get a new future. We have to do more to help these children who had stolen
our hearts because what they dream about is to continue studying after finishing
primary school, and at least until they finish high school.
