FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
The Depar tment of Livestock Products
Technology (Meat Science), Madras Veterinary
College, Chennai is organizing the six th
convention of the Association of Meat Scientists
and Technologists (AMST) and National Seminar
on “One Health – A New Paradigm to Augment
Livestock Productivity and Food Security” from
03.05.2023 to 05.05.2023.
INVITATION FOR PAPERS
Academics from universities, scientists from
educational and research institutes, experts from
industry and postgraduate research scholars are
invited to submit research papers / abstracts to
be presented in the National Seminar on the
themes detailed below.
The full length papers / abstracts are to
be submitted to the Organizing Secretary on
or before 12 th April 2023 to be included in the
compendium to be brought out on the occasion.
Full length papers limited to ten pages and
abstracts limited to 300 words typed in 12
font size (Arial, MS word) in 1.5 line spacing
may be sent via email to amstcon2023@gmail.
com as an attachment by 12th April 2023. These
should contain the objectives of the study, brief
methodology, results and conclusion. Selected
papers will be considered for oral presentation
and the remaining will be allotted for poster
presentation. Posters should be 850 mm
(breadth) x 1200 mm (length).
THEME OF THE SEMINAR
Theme of the seminar is drawn from
need to have a holistic view of “One Health”
and its impact on livestock productivity and
food security. The focus of the seminar will
be to deliberate and exchange ideas, address
challenges faced by the food industr y in
these facets and possibly evolve suitable
strategies to ameliorate them. The seminar will
be conveniently classified into the following
thematic areas:
 Animal health and livestock productivity
 Impact of food consumption on human
health
 Impact of food processing and preservation
on human health
 One health – Impact on food safety and
food security
 Food industry and the environment
 Bio-security in the food value chain
MADRAS VETERINARY COLLEGE
Madras Veterinar y College established
in the year 1903 is a constituent unit of Tamil
Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University,
the first of its kind to be established in 1989 in
Southeast Asia. The mandate of the college
embraces education, research and extension in
the areas of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The

(Meat Science), {the erstwhile Depar tment
of Meat Science and Technology}, of Madras
Veterinary College is the oldest in the country
and maintains its pre-eminent position and

graduates (M.V.Sc) and 28 Doctorates (Ph.D.).
