According to the fifth iteration of the Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality study (YAFS5) conducted

by the University of the Philippines Population Institute, only one-third of Filipino youth aged 15-24

years are aware of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and emergency contraceptive (EC) pills (UPPI).

The study also discovered that the percentage of those with a thorough understanding of the human

immune compromised virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) was less than 20%.

In 2021, 35% of males and 34% of females were aware of STIs. Meanwhile, HIV/AIDS awareness

was 74% among males and 78% among females in the same year, down from 82% and 85% in 2013,

when the fourth round of YAFS was administered. Many students especially the minors have lack of

awareness regarding in sex education about puberty and reproduction, abstinence, contraception and

condoms, relationships, sexual violence prevention, body image, gender identity and sexual orientation.

discovered that students who have a lack of knowledge regarding the factors of ignorance of sex

education.

the administration in the planning and organizing of trainings seminars addressing the consequence of

ignorance of knowledge in sex education.

Future Researcher. Future researchers will profit from this study because it will present broad

discussion regarding the effectiveness of sex education subject on behaviour of students. The information

provided in this study may be a basis of further studies and can be used as related literature.
