Education Manifesto
Education 101
various graphics and materials around the room. I see different areas of the room that serve
different purposes so If the class wants to split up they can or if they want to be together as a
group we also have that space. I hope to become a passionate teacher. A role model that is
respectable and trustworthy for both my students and the parents. I also want to be an outlet if
the children need someone to talk to and I want to use my authority to change lives.
I would say students learn best when they can relate to the content and engage in the
activities. Basing this off of personal experience and observations, when students are given
activities that involve listening for long periods of time they don’t attach to the content as much.
I think having hands-on classwork and collaboration amongst the students are both good ways to
get production out of them. More specifically at the elementary level using memorization tactics
is going to be productive, so words or phrases that are easy to remember and playful.
Communication with parents is important, the student's guardian has an influential role in
their performance. Having parent teacher conferences or some sort of contact information such
as email should also be available for the parents. There could be information that needs to be
relayed in regards to behavior or performance in the classroom that can be more appropriately
After learning about the different philosophies of education I found the student centered
styles were more intriguing to me. I think it is important to have a democracy in the classroom
and allow for discussion amongst the students. This dynamic is different between elementary
school and secondary school. I think elementary school has to be more teacher centered in order
to establish control and a routine with students who are not cognitively ready for independence.
