B. Enumerate 5 Mechanical parts of the microscope with their function.


1. Foot or Base - It is a U-shaped structure and supports the entire weight
of the compound microscope.
2. Stage - The stage is the flat, rectangular plate that connects the lower
end of the arm to the upper end of the arm. On the stage, the specimen
is put to be examined and examined for its many attributes. A hole in the
stage's center allows light to pass through.
3. Inclination Joint - It's a joint that connects the pillar of the compound
microscope to the arm. The inclination joint can be used to tilt the
microscope.
4. Diaphragm - Below the stage, the diaphragm is fixed. It regulates and
modifies the amount of light that enters the microscope. There are two
types of diaphragms: Disc Diaphragm and Iris Diaphragm
5. Nose Piece - The nose piece is circular and a rotating metal part that is
connected to the body tube’s lower end. The nose piece has three holes
wherein the objective lenses are embedded.
