SAFE USE OF STEPLADDERS


No LADDER USAGE GUIDELINE (√) or (X) REMARKS PHOTO CHECK POINT
1 Checking
a Rubber sole not missing & not worn off ( Getah dibahagian tapak tidak haus) To reject immediately if :
b Rungs not broken ( pemijak tidak patah) either one found.
c Stable surface ; no wet floor , smooth surface 1. Rubber sole worn off
( permukaan stabil & rata, lantai tidak basah) 2. Rungs broken
d Verify highest load stated on the ladder vs actual load
( pastikan berat muatan yang dibawa tidak melebihi berat muatan yg ditulis pada tangga
e No visible defect ( tiada kecacatan yang boleh dilihat dengan matakasar)
f Safety shoes without mud stick on the sole or any slippery contaminant
(gunakan kasut keselamatan yang bersih dan tidak licin )
g Clean, solid surfaces ; no oil, moss or leaf litter ; free of loose material e.g. sand
( bersih, permukaan mantap, tiada kesan minyak ,pasir )
2 Do
a To maintain 3-point contact while climbing
(Pastikan tangan memegang dan kedua kaki memijak )
b To secure again firm surface & supported by co-worker
( sandarkan pada permukaan yang tegap & dipegang oleh seorang pekerja lagi.)
c To place at angle, around 75 degress, or roughly 1m out for every 4m up.
( letakkan pada sudut permukaan lebih kurang 75degree atau 1 meter lebih untuk setiap
4 meter keatas.)
d The top of the portable ladder shall project at least 1 m above the edge of the
working platform or landing point.
(Bahagian atas tangga mesti lebih dari 1 meter )
e Use non-conductive ladder or steps for live electrical work
f Ensure steps are facing work activity
g To barricade the area ; ensure no struck by vehicles
3 Don't
a Do not carry tool using hand while climbing ; use tool belts to carry
b No extension ladder allowed
c Do not use the top three rungs.
d Do not overload - check the highest load stated on the ladder
e Do not overreach - both feet should be on the same rung
f Do not move them while standing on the rungs /steps
g Do not stand the ladder on moveable object e.g. pallets, bricks,lift trucks, tower
scaffolds, excavator buckets, vans or mobile elevating work platforms
h Do not use in strong wind or during raining
i Do not rest ladders against weak upper surfaces e.g. glazing or plastic gutters
