The EDULEARN22 conference is a leading international event focused on the latest research and

innovation in the field of education and technology. Held annually, the conference brings together
educators, researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals from around the world to discuss
the latest trends and developments in the field. The conference program includes a wide range of
oral and poster sessions, workshops, and virtual sessions covering a variety of topics related to the
use of technology in education. This year's conference features keynote speeches from leading
experts such as Michelle R. Weise, Stephen Heppell, and Wayne Holmes, and includes sessions on
topics such as digital literacy, student engagement, university-industry collaboration, and STEM
education during COVID-19.

Michelle R. Weise, Vice Chancellor of Strategy and Innovation at National University System, gave a
keynote speech titled "Long Life Learning: Preparing for Jobs that Don't Even Exist Yet." In her talk,
Weise discussed the need for continuous education in a rapidly changing world where tech is
advancing, jobs are morphing, and job tenure is shorter. She argued that education must be
continuous and must include wraparound supports for workers, targeted education, integrated
earning and learning, and transparent and fairer hiring in order to prepare talent for jobs that don't
even exist yet.

Stephen Heppell, a professor at Universidad Camilo Jose Cela, gave a keynote speech titled "The
aggregation of marginal learning gains: why they matter so much for the future of Learning." In his
talk, Heppell addressed the many choices that learners face today, including nomadic campuses,
hybrid systems, and new technologies, as well as the many details that can have a significant impact
on learning, such as light brightness and levels of volatile organic compounds in learning spaces. He
argued that if these details are neglected, learners will seek better places for their learning elsewhere
and explored the potential locations of these better places.

Wayne Holmes, a professor at University College London, gave a keynote speech titled "Virtual
Reality in Education: The Next Big Thing or Just a Fad?" In his talk, Holmes examined the potential of
virtual reality (VR) in education and discussed the challenges and opportunities that it presents. He
argued that VR has the potential to revolutionize education by providing immersive learning
experiences that engage learners in ways that traditional methods cannot. However, he also
acknowledged that VR is still in its infancy and that there are many technical and logistical challenges
that need to be addressed in order for it to reach its full potential in education.

The most recurrent research topics were related to the use of technology in education, including
digital literacy, online and distance learning, innovative educational technologies, and the use of data
science and artificial intelligence in education. Other common themes included student engagement
and support, curriculum design and quality assurance, professional development for teachers, and
assessment and evaluation. There were also a number of sessions focused on specific educational
stages or subjects, such as primary and secondary education, STEM education, and business
education. Additionally, there were several sessions dedicated to addressing issues of diversity,
equity, and inclusion in education, as well as the role of education in promoting sustainability and
social impact. Overall, the conference program for EDULEARN22 demonstrated a strong focus on the
use of technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the quality and effectiveness of
education.
