Shortcuts - Make it Simple!

Keys Purpose

General Shortcuts
Windows + E Open File Explorer
Windows + [Number] Opens program from taskbar of that number counted from left
Windows + D Go to Desk
Windows + L Lock Windows
Alt + Tab Move around different Files
Ctrl + Shift + N Create a New Folder
Shift + F10 Right Click
Alt + D Go to Address Bar in File Explorer
Alt + F4 Close All Files (say all the excel files that are open) / Shut down
Ctrl + W Close a particular file (Say one excel file out of 4 that are open)

Google Chrome Shortcuts


Alt + D Go to Address Bar
Ctrl + T For New Tab
Ctrl + Shift + T For reopening the recently clsoed tabs
Ctrl + Tab For moving to a "right side" tabs
Ctrl + Shift + Tab For moving to a "left side" tabs
Ctrl + [Tab number] Goes to that Chrome tab, counted from left
Ctrl + H Go to History
Ctrl + J Go to Downloads
Ctrl + W Close a particular tab
Alt + Left Arrow navigation Go back to Previous Page
Alt + Right Arrow navigation Go to Next Page (in case you came back to previous page)

Excel Shorcuts
Basics
Ctrl + C Copy
Ctrl + X Cut
Ctrl + V Paste
Ctrl + Alt + V Paste Special
Ctrl + A Select All
Ctrl + Z Undo
Ctrl + Y Redo
Ctrl + U Underline
Ctrl + B Bold
Ctrl + I Italics

Ctrl +H Find and Replace
F2 Select and edit the particular cell (Avoiding the use of mouse)
Repeat last action. For example, if you changed the color of text in another cell, pressing
F4
F4 will change the text in cell to the same color.
F5 Go to a specific cell. For example, C6.
Ctrl + [ Go to the cell that is presentin the formula
Alt + Down Arrow Open the dropdown list
Spacebar Select items of Dropdown list in filter
F5 Enter Returns back to the original cell
F7 Spell check selected text or document.
Ctrl + Shift + ; Enter the current Time

While typing text in a cell, pressing Alt+Enter will move to the next line, allowing for

multiple lines of text in one cell.
Ctrl + Space Select Entire Column

Select Entire Row(s) and Press

Fill down. Fills the cell beneath with the contents of the selected cell. To fill more than
Ctrl + D one cell, select the source cell and press Ctrl+Shift+Down to select multiple cells. Then
press Ctrl+D to fill them with the contents of the original cell.
Alt + ; Select only visible cells in filter
Fill right. Fills the cell to the right with the contents of the selected cell. To fill more than
Ctrl + R one cell, select the source cell and press Ctrl+Shift+Right to select multiple cells. Then
press Ctrl+R to fill them with the contents of the original cell.
Ctrl + Shift + L Select the data and apply filter

Sheets and Workbook


F8 Use arrow keys instead of Shift + arrow keys
Shift + F8 Select ouside a range
F12 Save as
Shift + F2 Insert or edit a comment
Ctrl + N Create a New Excel Workbook (Use this shortcut in already open Excel Workbook)
Shift + F11 Create a New Sheet
Alt → E → L Delete a particular sheet
Alt → H → O → R Rename Sheet
Ctrl + Page up For moving to "left side" sheets

Note: The above Alt shortcuts are the ones that are majorly used. However, Alt key can be used to do any other excel function.
