1 Unit Overall Design

The generator is synchronous generator, be designed to operate together with a

diesel, the machine has a shaft mounted fan inside. The surrounding air is used for
cooling. The cooling air is drawn in through air filters (self charging electrostatic
panels) and blown out to the surrounding environment. The stator frame is a rigid
welded steel structure construction. The stator core is built of thin Electric sheet steel
laminations which are insulated on both sides with heat-resistant inorganic Resin. The
radial cooling ducts in the stator core ensure uniform and effective cooling of the
Stator. The rotor consists of a shaft and poles fixed on the shaft, exciter and a fan(s).
The shaft is machined of steel forging. The exciter rotor and the fan are shrinking fitted
onto the shaft and secured with a key.

Excitation system is brushless excitation mode. Excitation power is supplied directly

from outlet of generator, with a three phase transformer; while excitation-starting
power is supplied from UPS cabinet of this unit.

Main transformer adopts a three-phase oil-immersed transformer, with its outlet

connected to 138kV system by overhead transmission line. Two 2000kVA dry type
transformers supply auxiliary power, which is connected with two 13.8kV busbar.

Generator and transformer adopt microprocessor-based relay protection produced by

NARI-Relays Electric Co. Ltd.

Generator and auxiliary power system are all controlled by Distributed Control System
(DCS), main transformer and 138kV transmission line are all controlled by Net Control
System (NCS), bus equipments, and utility equipments are all monitored by a network
computer monitoring system, and the computer monitoring console is set up in
centralized control room. Electrical components in unit control room are provided with
computer-based protection devices.
