Precombustion Chambers
SMCS - 1106-11; 1106-12

Remove Precombustion Chambers

start by:

a) remove glow plugs

b) remove fuel injection valves

NOTE: This operation was done in an earlier machine.

1. Drain the coolant from the radiator and the cylinder block.

2. Remove precombustion chamber (1) with tool (A).

Install Precombustion Chambers

NOTE: This operation was done on an earlier machine.

1. Install a new O-ring seal (1) on precombustion chamber (2).

2. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the precombustion chamber (2).

3. Install a 5M2667 Gasket (3), with "2C" on it, on the precombustion chamber.

4. Put liquid soap on the bore in the cylinder head and O-ring seal (1). Install the precombustion chamber in the cylinder head and tighten it to a torque of 150 ± 10
lb.ft. (205 ± 14 N·m) with tool.

NOTE: If the glow plug hole does not stop in "GO RANGE", remove the precombustion chamber and gasket.

5. If the glow plug was in "RANGE 1" install a 2S8959 Gasket, with "2S" on it, on the precombustion chamber and tighten it to a torque of 150 ± 10 lb.ft. (205 ± 14
N·m) with tool (A).

6. If the glow plug is in "RANGE 2" install a 2S8960 Gasket, with "2X" on it, on the precombustion chamber and tighten it to a torque of 150 ± 10 lb.ft. (205 ± 14
N·m) with tool (A).

7. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See MAINTENANCE GUIDE.
