Balay Buhay Sa Uma Bee Farm from Region 5
Bulusan, Sorsogon.Bulusan is one of the
municipalities in Sorsogon. It is known for being
the home of Mt. Bulusan, Sorsogon's highest peak,
and Bulusan Lake, a scenic crater lake surrounded
by lush greeneries.
The word "Bulusan" actually means "where the
water flows".
Balay Buhay sa Uma Bee Farm is a DOT-
accredited Agri-tourism Farmsite which aims to
integrate life in a farm setting in Sorsogon
particularly in the town of Bulusan. It’s a
combination of a resort, bee farm, and restaurant
located in the verdant area of Bulusan. It offers a
farm living experience and a serene and nature-
calming environment.

The owner is Ms. Luz Zarsuela Gamba She

began in 2003 with 38 colonies of European
Apis mellifera honey bees, however they did
not do well in this climate. She was
recommended to try working with
indigenous, stingless bees by Professor Cleo
Cervancia of University of the Philippines
Los Banos, and by Mr. Tio Ompong
Palconitin
- he was the ‘father’ of beekeeping with
stingless bees, and invented the coconut shell
method of housing them.

This is the main gate of the bee farm. This serves

as a back drop of almost everyone who visits this
place because of its farm name being hung
above.

Along the way to their pavilion you can see lots

of plants and including their famous
presentations of bees.
So basically, no touching of bees. Don not
disturb them if you don’t want to be attacked.

Tayabak or "Jade Vine" is the famous flower in

Balay buhas sa uma Bee farm because of the beauty
and colors, most tourist attract to this flower.

BLUE TRUMPE VINE

The Blue Sky Vine is a heat and sunloving twining vine

suitable for metal fences, smaller arbors, and medium to
large trellises or other sturdy supports. Provide a well-
drained, moderately fertile soil. The Blue Sky Vine can also
be enjoyed as an easy and low-maintenance container plant.

SUN FLOWER

With bright blooms that go all summer, sunflowers are heat-

tolerant, resistant to pests, and attractive to pollinators and
birds. They make beautiful cut flowers and their seeds (and oil)
are a source of food for birds and people! See their Sunflower
for information on everything from planting to growing
to harvesting.

WHITE SKY VINE

with its large, pure white blooms, pleasant scent, and heart-
shaped leaves, is one of my favorite vining plants. As the
name might suggest, the bloom of this vigorous vine is
indeed moonlike, thanks to its pale color and round shape

ALLANDER CHERRY RIPE

Alamanda cathartica 'Cherry Ripe' is a vigorous and

handsome climber or shrub with lance shaped leathery
leaves and beautiful, deep pink with a dark red throat,
trumpet shaped flowers that are produced throughout
summer.

GOLDEN TORCH
The golden torch is a beautiful, multi-stem, columnar cactus
that produces many upright branches and grows five to seven
feet tall. It is lime-green with long, radial, yellowish-white
spines that turn gray as the plant ages. It produces large,
white, nocturnal flowers that are six to eight inches in
diameter.

STAR LILY

White stargazer lilies, in particular, have come to

characterize a sense of purity and are often used as an
expression of sympathy. The pink varieties are also
considered symbolic of wealth and prosperity, as well being
as a sign of aspiration
