ARTICLE 29
“WONDERFUL WORLD?”
The Way We Live Now

“Since the cold war, the earth has become more peaceful. Why doesn’t it feel that way?”

-James Traub

There are still some countries that are still not gotten over about the impact of war in their lives,
many of them conclude that the world we had today is more dangerous to live yet it is the only
planet that we can consider as our home. According to the Article 29, the world is not that
dangerous than we imagine, in fact the number of armed conflicts has been slow down since after
the cold war. On the other hand, the Human Security Center at the University of British Columbia
was still not convinced with this idea because according to them, there’s no such a sound metric
that may measure the exact and concrete numbers of indirect deaths.

Seemingly, Americans are still having that kind of trauma or nightmares when it comes in peace
making maybe it’s because of what happened during the 9/11. According to the reports the myths
about the rising tide of violence played by their media organizations is the one to blame, it keeps on
bringing confusion to the American people and giving them the idea that the world is not that safe
to live anymore.

Anyways, we can’t blame the Americans for thinking that the world is more dangerous to live
because up to this moment there’s a lot of wars happened anywhere, including the war within
ourselves and a war against our fears.
