In modern times, thanks to the popularity of transport, people have more

opportunities to travel to other countries all over the world. Some people argue that
travelers should obey the tradition and behavior of the host country. In contrast,
others believe that nations should be more open to different cultural problems. In
this essay, I will discuss both views before giving my personal opinion.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why visitors should adapt to the culture
of the host country. Some nations have customs that travelers must follow because
that is the way to communicate easily and show respect for the local people. For
example, one of the Japanese traditions is taking off shoes when entering the
house, while in other countries, people can comfortably wear shoes. If travelers do
not know it, this can lead to the misunderstanding that they have impolite actions
with the host. Furthermore, that is an opportunity to learn new things, such as
traditional cuisine, music, and customs. People will have experiences that they
never do it before.

On the other hand, the host nation should be open-minded the cultural differences.
For many travelers, it is hard to follow the host culture because it differs from their
own. In addition, it sometimes is not suitable for the religion of visitors. And the
host country cannot force their tourists to adapt to their customs in a short period.
If the host nation can solve this problem, it will attract more tourists. That leads to
economic development, and the country's image will be promoted more widely. To
illustrate, Dubai used to be a strict country with many severe rules, and now it has
become a popular destination for tourists.

In conclusion, it is necessary to pay attention to the local culture. However, in my

opinion, the host country should accept and understand the cultural diversity of
newcomers.
