as children. In India, poor understanding of
mental health has led to prejudice against
people with fragile mental well-being. A survey
by the World Economic Forum showed that 71%
of the respondents used stigmatic terms when
describing their understanding of mental
health, and 60% believed that lack of self-
discipline was one of the root causes of mental
illness.

For mental health to be prioritized within


educational institutions, the focus needs to
come from within children and from their
households. But, educational institutions also
need to step up.
