Terminology
SMV A Sampled Measured Value is for example a measured value of voltage phase A.
ASDU An Application Service Data Unit contains a set of sampled measured values from the same sampling time point.
Stream type:
LE The IEC 61850-9-2 Light Edition defines a static set of 4 voltage and 4 current values per SMV stream.
Flexible According to IEC 61869-9, the content of a SMV stream can be flexible configured
In the example:
instead of CT1+VT1+CT2+VT2 = 16 SMV
only CT1+VT1+CT2 = 12 SMV

Synchronization function ANSI 25
General Overview
The 1-channel Synchronization function (ANSI 25) checks whether Synchronization function
the activation is permissible without a risk to the stability of the (ANSI 25)
system when interconnecting 2 parts of an electrical power system.
Typical applications are as follows:
Control application: Commands to close the circuit breaker • Synchronization of a line and a busbar
• Synchronization of 2 busbars via a cross-
Auto reclose application: commands to close the circuit breaker coupling
after a system fault if the three pole auto reclose is enable • Synchronization of a generator and a
busbar
• The following operating modes are
covered:
• Synchrocheck
• Switching synchronous power systems
• Switching asynchronous power systems
• Switching to dead line/busbar
Conditions: dV = V2 – V1, df = f2 – f1, dα = α2 – α1
