PRESENTER: It is 8.00 in the morning and you’re listening to Ultra Radio with me, Erickson Matika.
PRESENTER: Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) is essential to the well-being and empowerment
of women and adolescent girls. On any given day, more than 300 million women worldwide are
menstruating. Menstrual disorders are problems that affect a woman’s normal menstrual cycle. They
include painful cramps during menstruation, abnormally heavy bleeding, or not having any bleeding.
Menstruation occurs during the years between puberty and menopause.
CUE OUT:. They are ready to listen and they are not judgemental.
PRESENTER: One question that has been raised is whether or not the education system is fulfilling
its role in supporting people suffering from menstrual health problems.
What is the general overview of Menstrual health?
Do girls oftenly come to you when suffering from menstrual complications? What support do you
give them?

Menstrual Health Awareness is key to both the individual suffering from the disorder as well as to
their loved ones and the surrounding community in order to establish a manageable solution.
Delayed menses and other menstrual disorders indicate an immediate need for treatment

SYNOPSIS
The program’s name is Menstrual Health and Hygiene and it focuses on the menstrual health
problems that young girls face. It will be aired weekly on Wednesdays at 8.00 a.m and it will run for
10 minutes The main objective of this programme is to promote Awareness about the importance of
menstrual health and to encourage young girls to speak up whenever they re dealing with these
issues.
TREATMENT
The program will begin with the stations jingle identity which will fade after followed by a signature
tune then fade less than 8. There will be the introduction of the program by the presenter which will
include the background of the program. After the introduction there will be vox pops followed by a
commercial then the presenter will continue with the program followed by vox pops and interviews.
REPORT
In Kenya, it is estimated that one in every 10 people suffer from a common menstrual disorder. The
number increases to one in every four people among patients. Attending routine outpatient
services. Menstrual disorders are illnesses diagnosed in Kenya.
