    UNIVERSE

    Until the end of the 19 th century it was thought that the universe was eternal and unchanging; but
    astronomers now that the universe has a life story. It is impossible for the human mind to conceive a
    true picture of the size of the universe. We not only don’t know how vast it is, but it is hard for us to
    even imagine how vast it might be. It is infinite both in time and space.

    It is generally assumed that in the beginning the universe was like a big ball of high density. This
    superdence ball expanded for millions of years and some 12 billion years ago it exploded and the
    explosion (the Big Bang) broke up the superdence ball throwing its fragments far out into space where
    they are still travelling at several thousands of kilometers per second.
