The difference between Curriculum vitae (CV) and Resume:

The primary difference between resume and curriculum vitae (CV) are length. What is included
and what each is used for. While both are used in a job application, a resume and CV are not always
interchangeable.

Like a resume, a CV also provides a summary of experiences and skills. Typically, CV are longer than
resumes at least two or three pages. CV’s includes information on one’s academic background, including
teaching experience, degrees, research, awards, publications, presentations and achievements. CV’s are
thus much longer than resumes and include more information, particularly related to academic
background. A Curriculum Vitae summary is one of two pages. Sometimes large organizations ask for a
one page CV summary when they expect a large pool of applications.

Resume: A resume provides a summary of your education, work history, credentials and other
accomplishments and skills. Resumes includes bulleted list to keep in formation concise. Resumes come
in a few types including chronological, functional and combination formals.

In addition to the basis a CV includes research and teaching experience, publications grants and
fellowship, professional associations and licenses, awards and other information relevant to the positive
you are applying.

Cover letter is a letter the applicant sends along with resume to provide information on applicants
skills and experience. This letter explains the employer how you are an ideal candidate for a position.
Tips for writing cover letter.

 Don’t duplicate the resume:- Your resume is a general record of experience education and
accomplishments. In contrast the job application cover letter should show how exactly your
background makes you a good fit for a particular position.
 Tailor each application better in according to the requirement of the job. Personalize each letter
to fit the specific company and position. Always try to match your qualification to the job
posting.
 Be professional:- Application letters have a fairy rigid format, they expect to see certain
information included in set areas.

Use business letter format while writing covering letter. Include your contact information
at the top, the date and the employers contact information. Be sure to provide a solution at the
beginning and your signature at the end. Read cover letter through and edit and edit again for
no errors either in grammar or spelling.
