CHAPTER 1
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION
According to McGrane (2021) orange is one of the most popular fruits in the
world. However, some claim that since orange peels contain valuable nutrients,
they need to be consumed rather than discarded, Juicy, delicious citrus fruits like
oranges are well-known for having a lot of vitamin C. Along with provitamin A,
calcium, folate, riboflavin, thiamine, vitamin B6, and folate, orange peel is also a
good source of folate. Orange peels are also high in fiber, vitamin C, and plant
chemicals like polyphenols which is maybe less widely recognized, this could aid
in the prevention and treatment of numerous chronic illnesses, including type 2
diabetes, obesity, and Alzheimer's disease. In fact, just 1 tablespoon (6 grams) of
orange peel has approximately 3 times as much vitamin C as the inside fruit, or
14% of the Daily Value (DV).
