Discussion:-ABDULLAH SAEED

In this experiment, the enthalpy of reaction ΔH was calculated from

the reaction of one mole of the strong base (NaOH) with one mole of
𝒒
the strong acid (HCl) using the relationship: ΔH =
𝒏

Where the heat capacity of the device was calculated based on the
law of conservation of energy, the heat lost is equal to the heat
gained.

As for the lost heat, it is calculated from the law: q = m * Cp * ΔT

As a result, the amount of heat released ΔH was calculated and found

to be equal to ΔH = -2115.1 J/gm.mol, Compared to the theoretical
value of the amount of heat released, which is equal to -13690 J at
25oC we notice a difference between the theoretical value and the
practical value. The reason for this difference is that the difference in
temperature affects the value of the neutralization heat, so The
reaction must take place in an isolated surroundings or device to
prevent heat exchange between the outer and inner surroundings, and
this also affects the value of the neutralization heat.

There are several other factors that influence the experience such as:

✓ The error in calculations also affects the value of the

neutralization heat.
✓ Not set up the device properly.
✓ Inaccurate of measuring temperatures using a thermometer.
