Jeepney phaseout is crap, why?

First of all, some people don't even know what's the struggle of every commuter
that's why it is easy for them to agree on the jeepney phaseout issue. Although there are
other transportations like tricycles, taxis, angkas, or whatsoever, some families' only source
of income is from the jeepney.
Secondly, the fund for this "Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program" could
have been allotted to a more significant project that will benefit each Filipino. The
government wants them to buy a modernized jeepney that costs 1.6 million to 1.8 million
pesos. They even stated that "...may loan para dito". Come to think of it, the income of every
jeepney driver from driving for many hours is just enough to sustain their family's daily
expenses, yet the government wants them to buy loans for what? Only to keep up with
other modernized countries.
We all know that the inflation rate of our country is getting higher every month, and
it also means that the prices of goods and services also increasing. Every one of us is
struggling financially, and not everyone can afford the fare of a modernized jeepney since it
might be doubled. How much do Filipino citizens earn every month? Is the minimum wage
that they are receiving enough for another expense? In today's era, it is not advisable to
save money or budget your money since some income is just right for the planned
expenditure. Thus, this jeepney phase-out is anti-poor.
Lastly, from the name itself "traditional jeepney", traditional, so it is one of the gems
of the Philippines. Some countries even use it to describe our country. Also, some
foreigners travel to our country just to see those jeepneys and got the experience to ride on
them. Are we going to let this just be part of our history?
There are positive effects of modernized jeepneys but these are not enough to
invalidate the lives of Filipinos. Jeepney phaseout is a serious case. It is undeniable that we
are up and ready for modernization but the LTFRB should have implemented it in the most
efficient way possible for all the jeepney drivers. The government could've done better. It
seems like they are trying to say that "we are all in the same boat" where in the utmost fact,
some are riding in a ship while some are inside a yacht.
The politicians are deaf and blind when it comes to our country men's struggles in
life. How those people who promised us a better future suddenly became the problem?
How those people became deaf and blind when they touched and embraced every heart of
Filipino at the high peak of the election? It is indeed a sign for you to vote wisely for the
next election.
