DALTON ATOMIC
ATOMIC THEORY
Well first we have to know what is an atom and then understand the atomic theorem
WHAT IS AN ATOM?
Atoms are the basic units of matter and the defining structure of elements. The term "atom"
comes from the Greek word for indivisible, because it was once thought that atoms were the
smallest things in the universe and could not be divided. We now know that atoms are made
up of three particles: protons, neutrons and electrons — which are composed of even smaller
particles, such as quarks.

ATOMIC THEORY
John Dalton is the scientist credited for proposing the atomic theory. This theory explains
several concepts that are relevant in the observable world: the composition of a pure gold
necklace, what makes the pure gold necklace different than a pure silver necklace, and what
occurs when pure gold is mixed with pure copper.
Dalton´s theory
1: All matter is made of atoms.
2: All atoms of a given element are identical in mass and properties.
3: Compounds are combinations of two or more different types of atoms.
4: A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms.

Dalton's atomic theory was the first complete attempt to describe all
matter in terms of atoms and their properties. The parts of the
theory had to be modified based on the existence of subatomic
particles and isotopes. Dalton based his theory on the law of
conservation of mass and the law of constant composition. The
atomic theory led to the creation of the law of multiple proportions.
