Preparing for STEM Careers Day and Progression Evening - Biology

As part of your independent study this week, choose one of the activities below.

1. Make a list of organisations you'd like to meet at Progression Evening (Weds 9th March
2022) and prepare a short statement on why you would like to attend these sessions. Focus
your statement around what you’d like to find out or learn from these sessions and how this
might relate to future plans/careers. As part of this, you should consider how A level Biology
might fit into these plans. (details of sessions/providers will be available after half term)

OR

2. Research a couple of the organisations attending the STEM event. Why are these of interest
to you? What would you like to find out or learn from these providers, and how this might
relate to future plans/careers. As part of this, you should consider how A level Biology might
fit into these plans. List of providers and links here

OR

3. Find out some more about 2 careers you may be interested in and summarise the
information in between 100-250 words. As part of this, you should explain how this subject
(A level Biology) and the knowledge and/or skills (including wider skills) you are developing
relates to your chosen careers. Some examples wider skills we develop in Biology can be
found here

OR

4. Read the Careers Newsletter this week and identify at least one opportunity that you would
like to find out more about. Explain why you are interested, and what you are going to do to
find out more. Set yourself a date to achieve these goals.

OR

5. Imagine your teacher is going to interview everyone in your class for a job. Write a 200 word
statement to explain, in terms of your wider skills and experiences, why they should choose
you for the job. As part of this, discuss how studying A level Biology helps you to develop
these skills.
