Since harmony is the quality that first establishes a link between a work of art and its viewers or
listeners, I would rate harmony as being of the utmost importance. Without harmony, the art will not
function as a whole and will lose its relatedness. The next element is contrast; if there is harmony but no
contrast, the work would be repetitive and lack the sense of fluidity that guarantees its beauty. The next
element is balance, which equally distributes the piece's visual weight, comforts the spectator, and is
visually appealing. Without balance, there is tension between the artwork and the spectator, which
causes the viewer to feel uneasy or uncomfortable.

Emphasis uses the message it wishes to get over to its audience. Without emphasis, there won't be a
focal point to draw the viewer's attention, which will cause them to get disinterested in the artwork.
Movement gives art drama and character, which intrigues viewers and piques their interest in it.
Without it, the artwork would merely be static, have no intention of moving, and would weary the
spectator. Contrast, on the other hand, makes clear what the actual nature of the work is. It highlights
the artwork's main point, gives it variation, and directs the viewer's attention across the whole work of
art.

Without contrast in art, the effect will be visually awful and may make the art invisible, lowering its
value as a work of art. Variety in art refers to the use of various sizes, forms, lines, etc. It makes the
painting more engaging by utilizing a variety of attributes. These are used in the artwork in a way that
contrasts the artwork. Without diversity, art loses its feeling of worth because it lacks a vibrant aspect
that keeps spectators interested visually.
