Another factor that can be attributed to the level of job satisfaction is promotion.

Promotion
can be defined as an exchange that involves resetting an employee to a position with a higher salary.
In general, promotion is very important in retaining an employee that always enjoys working, and
subsequently, the rate of job satisfaction is high. Based on a study conducted by Dunn & Stephens
(1972), promotion is an important element of job satisfaction. The leadership style brought in the
workplace is also a contributing factor to the motivational level of an employee and it will indirectly
affect their job satisfaction. The behaviour of a supervisor or a person in a higher position will affect
employees in lower positions. According to Simon (1947), the employee will obey the instructions of
a person in a higher position than him as long as the instructions are deemed reasonable to follow.
According Gruneberg (1979) the job satisfaction factor becomes an important aspect of human
resource management because job satisfaction is one of the responsibilities of employees in the
increasing productivity and profitability of the organization (Suhaya Hj. Deraman & Siti Zubaidah Hj.
Mohd Isa, 2016).
