IGNOU Signed MoU with NCHMCT to offer programs in

Hospitality

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) announced today that it has signed
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Council for Hotel
Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) to offer Bachelor of Science
(Hospitality and Hotel Administration) (BHM) and Master of Science (Hospitality
Administration) (MHA) programs.

The BHM program is designed to provide students with an understanding of the various
aspects of the hospitality and hotel industry, including food production, food and
beverage service, and front office operations. The MHA program is intended for those
who wish to gain advanced knowledge and skills in the field of hospitality management
and administration.

As per the MoU, the NCHMCT will provide academic support and guidance to IGNOU in
the form of curriculum development, resource persons, and evaluation of the program.
The partnership will also provide students with opportunities for internships and
industry interactions through the NCHMCT’s vast network of industry partners.

Commenting on the MoU, Dr. Nageshwar Rao, Director-General of IGNOU, said, “We are
delighted to partner with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering
Technology to offer these industry-relevant programs. Hospitality is one of the fastest-
growing sectors in India and the world, and this partnership will provide students with
the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this field. We believe this will be a great
opportunity for our students to gain practical experience and get industry exposure.”

NCHMCT Chairman expressed that “The MoU is a positive step towards creating
industry-ready professionals for the hospitality sector. It will give an opportunity to
students in IGNOU to benefit from the expertise of the NCHMCT and its industry
partners, and help them gain the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the field. We
are confident that this partnership will be mutually beneficial for both IGNOU and
NCHMCT.”

This MoU is an important step in providing opportunities for students to learn about the
latest trends and developments in the hospitality and hotel industry, and will help equip
them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this rapidly growing sector.
