Day 1
Short dynamic drills:
Standing Kho-kho in two groups (5 minutes):
Objectve:
• improve agility
• be alert to run on command of 'Kho'
• transfer body weight from static to moving
• be aware of spatial movement.

How to play
• All players stand in circle in pairs back to back, except two players who act as
runner and chaser.
• The chaser chases the runner in and out of the circle. If the runner stands in
front or behind any of the pair the same/front player will become the runner. If
the chaser catches the runner, the runner will become the chaser and the chaser
the runner. Play for 5 minutes.
• Chasing area is around or within the circle only.

Day 2
Short dynamic drills:
Ladder Agility Drills

1. Hop scotch drill

This is one of the simplest ladder agility drills, even for those who are too old to remember playing hop
scotch (or just won't admit to it!).
•Start with your feet hip width apart at the bottom of the ladder
•Jump up with both feet and land on the left foot only in the first square
•immediately push off with your left foot and land with both feet in the second square
•immediately push off with both feet and land on your right foot only
•push off from your right foot and land on both feet.
•repeat this pattern for the full length of the ladder

2.In-Out Drill
Another basic drill to master but no less effective.
•Start with your feet hip width apart at the bottom of the ladder
•Step into the first square with your left foot first, immediatelyfollowed by your right foot
•With your left foot step outside to the left the second square, then immediately step outside the second
square with your right foot
•Step back into the third square with your left foot first, followed by your right foot.
•repeat this pattern in fluid motion for the length of the ladder

Day 3

Today students will perform 10 meter by 6 shuttle run followed by two rounds of
agility hurdle run.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 5
Short dynamic drills:
Today students will perform low hurdle run followed zig zag run around saucer
cones.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 6
Short dynamic drills: (5 minutes)
Short burst of sprints followed by sliding.

Day 1
Physical activity/game:
Mini Kho
 To understand the basic game of kho-kho
 To sit in the square in a crouch position and get up from this position to avoid
early kho
 To run in the direction of the runner
 Single chain running -This is one of the basic skills used by the
dodger as per the situation. This is mostly used by the sub
junior players. In this skill the dodger starts running from the first
chaser and cuts through each box running close to the center line
and running from behind each sitting chaser. The dodger
runs through all the sitting boxes and after cutting through
the last box again starts cutting through from between each
box in a zig zag pattern.
While doing this skill the dodger has to keep safe distance
from the active chaser and keep a watch on the kho being
given. While doing so the dodger should run keeping a upper
body slightly bent forward. If the player of the chasing team
are slow then this skill is the best to be used.
How to play
 The group is divided into two equal teams. One group is the chasing group and
other group is the running group. Group the runners into threes outside the
playing area. The active chaser starts running and gives kho to the sitting
chaser close to the runner or pole and takes the sitting position.
 Sitting chaser runs in the direction of the runner to try and touch the runner
and deliver the kho to the next sitting chaser and so on till the time is over or
all the runners are caught out. After the team changes their position to runner
and chaser. The teams exchange roles, that is, the runners become chasers and
chasers become runners.
Equipment : Markers, cones and poles
Safety: Non slippery playing surface.
Self assessment
 Do I understand the game and can I play it?
 Can I move from a crouch or sitting position to running smoothly and
efficiently?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 2
Physical activity/game:
Kho-kho game (15 minutes)
To be introduced
 Running Skills :
Chain Game: This skill is mainly used by the active
dodger. In this skill the dodger runs close to the centre line
cutting through each box from behind the of player sitting in
the boxes.
 chasing skills
Sitting on square - Parallel toe sitting -, the chaser sits in the square and the
feet are kept parallel to each other. Hands are placed outside the centre
lane and fingers form a bridge. The knees are kept bent and parallel to each
other.
Bullet toe sitting-one toe nearer to the front line of square and another is a
little behind the other one.
Giving kho and chasing the runner - A chaser must say “Kho” when he gives
signal to sitting chaser so that he can get off from square and start chasing
the runner. If he fails to say this word a foul is noted and considered as
kho-kho rule  is not followed.
Choosing direction- Chaser/attacker team player must keep his foot out of
box with care as his foot will decide which way he will run to chase the
runner else a foul will be counted.
How to play
 The group is divided into two equal parts. One group acts as chasers and the
other group acts as runners. One active chaser starts running and gives Kho to
the sitting chaser close to the runner or pole and takes the sitting position.
 Sitting chaser runs straight or in the direction of runner to try to catch and
deliver the kho to the next sitting chaser nearest to the runner and so on till the
time is over or all the runners are caught out. After that the teams change their
roles.
Equipment: Markers, cones and poles.
Safety: Non slippery playing surface.
Self assessment:
Can I explain how to play this game to others?
What are the games of indian origin?

Day 3
Physical activity/game:
Kho-kho game (15 minutes)
To be introduced
Chasing skill- Diving-
chaser dives to quickly cover the distance to runner and make him out.
Chaser usally does it during run. He/She can start runinng or take a step
from sitting position amd jump forwards towards the body of runner thus
capturing quickly the escaping runner.
Running skill-
DOUBLE CHAIN—running back of the chaser leaving two players i.e not
alternate or one by one so that you can make them slow and gain same
stamina while running
Position on Kho Kho playground
How to Play Kho-Kho
 Introduction the session verbally

• There are two teams. Each team consists of 12 players, out of which nine players
shall take the field in the beginning of the game.
• The team that wins the toss shall have the option of chasing or running.
• Any eight chasers shall occupy the squares facing the side lines in such a way that
no two adjacent chasers face the same side line. The ninth chaser shall start the
chase.
• The first batch of three runners shall be inside, in the play field and the
remaining runners shall sit outside in the area marked for them.
• After a runner is out, he/she shall sit outside in the marked area.
• Chaser shall not leave the square without getting kho.
• Attacker shall not cross the central lane if she/he does so, it will be a foul. • Kho
is to be given from behind a chaser.
• After giving a kho, a raider shall sit down immediately in the square of the sitting
chaser.
• After getting a kho, the sitting chaser shall become an active chaser and move in
the half that she/he was facing.
• A chaser shall move in the direction she/he turns the shoulder first. If she/he
twists the shoulder more than a right angle in the opposite direction, it shall be a
foul.
• During a turn, an attacker may go out of court but she/he shall observe all the
rules about taking the direction.
 Ask question to assess the students knowledge of dialogue
 Observe, Supervise, Correct and Encourage students during the Game Kho-Kho
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 4
Physical activity/game:
Kho-kho game (15 minutes)
To be introduced
Chasing skill-
Pole dive- The chaser after reaching the pole holds the post with one hand and
with strongly holding the feet on the ground. She/he moves body forward as far as
possible to touch a runner with the other hand.
• When an active runner touches by extending an arm, it is called trapping.
Dodging skill-
RING PLAY— playing in ring means you just cross the chasers go to the lobby side
dodge them and then cross again to other side repeatedly like a ring.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 5
Physical activity/game:
Kho-kho game (15 minutes)
Focused on-
 Improve dodging, swerving and avoiding the chasers
 Understand the directional requirements of this game
 Also all above skills introduced will be practiced.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 6
Physical activity/game:
Kho-kho game (20 minutes)
Assessment
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suggested questions
1. Do I understand the game - positioning of the players, strategy of the team ?
Can I explain it to a friend/teacher?
2. What can I do to keep myself and others safe when playing games?
3. Do I understand the game and can I play it?
4. Can I move from a crouch or sitting position to running smoothly and
efficiently?
5. What can I do to keep myself and others safe when playing games?
6. Did I manage to swerve, dodge and run fast so that I didn't get caught?
7. Discuss what you observe about the field now that you are getting an aerial
view of it.
8. Create scenarios from the runner team and discuss what could be the best
way to ‘run’. Students can present one by one. Analyse each suggestion
for its merits and de-merits. Visualise in your mind
9. Now do the same form the catchers team perspective.
