Law of Inertia

PREPARED BY: RIZZA MAE V. FRANILLA

Inertia is the property of a body
that tends to resists a change in
its state of motion.
Newton’s first law of motion states
that an object at rest will remain
at rest or an object in motion will
continue to move with constant
velocity unless acted upon by a
nonzero net external force.
According to the law of inertia,
unless the person is using a seat
belt, he or she will continue to move
at that velocity until a force stops
him or her—the force of the
windshield, steering wheel, or road.
Law of
Acceleration
PREPARED BY: RIZZA MAE V. FRANILLA
The acceleration is directly
proportional to the magnitude of
the net force.
In symbols,

𝐹
𝑎 =
𝑚

F = ma
The product of force and time during
which it acts is called impulse.
A change in momentum may be
achieved by some combination of
force and time.
Law of
Interaction
PREPARED BY: RIZZA MAE V. FRANILLA
To every action, there is
an equal and opposite
reaction. This is called the
law of interaction.
What does the third law
of motion say?
First, action and reaction
forces are equal in
magnitude but oppositely
directed.
Second, action and
reaction forces are acting
on two different bodies
and will never cancel out.
Lastly, forces always come
in pairs.
