INSYAALLAH

True Incident: During a Friday Khutbah in a small town, the Imam spoke about the importance
of saying "Insya Allah" (which means if God wills) when planning to do something in the future.
After a few days, a man named Amir, who also attended the Sermon, wanted to buy a
bull at the market. While traveling, he met a friend of his, Ahmad asked where he was going.
He said he was going to buy a bull but did not say God willing in the end. Ahmad
reminded Amir of the Sermon and told him to recite the Insha-Allah. However, Amir said that he
had enough money and energy to go to the market, so there was no need to say God willing
because he would buy the bull. Amir thinks that saying God willing will not make any
difference.
When he arived to the market, he found a bull he had wanted. He deals with the seller for
a fair price and he decides to pay for the bull but is shocked when he finds that his money is
gone. Apparently a thief stole the money as he walked through a busy market. The seller asked if
he would buy the bull. "Insya Allah, I'll buy next week," he said.
When he got home, his wife asked about the bull. He told how he forgot to say God
willing, and added, "Insya Allah, I want to buy a bull. But Insya Allah, my money has been
stolen. Insya Allah, I will buy a cow next week." His wife explained to him that we should say
Insya Allah for things that didn't happen, not for things that had already happened. Since then,
Amir has never forgotten to say "Insha-Allah"
