The Ghost At The Garden

www.imagineforest.com
Tamara Su had to cross the garden one evening in the dark, and, though their uncle had sent her to post

a letter, she could not get on, for she saw a ghost, as she fancied, near the garden, and their hair stood

almost on end.

There it was, rising white and spectral before her with outstretched, slowly moving arms.

Tamara Su uttered a piercing shriek, for the children at school had told her some dreadful ghost

stories, and she quite expected to be carried o  by the ghost in its beckoning arms.

their uncle was very vexed that she had lost the post, and would not believe she had seen a ghost.

"There are no such things," he said; "light the lantern and it’ll drive your ghost away. Some silly
children have been frightening you."

Tamara Su’s uncle declared they would pay the children out for shamming ghost stories, and so they
all went together, followed by a dog.

And what do you think Tamara Su's ghost turned out to be? The white shirt belonged to a knight,
which he had hung up to dry in her back garden.

Tamara Su has left o  believing in ghost stories now; and if she ever sees a ghost again, she intends
to go right up to it, and  nd out all about it, instead of running away.
