2. theory - a plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to
explain phenomena (Merriam Webster, n.d.)
3. assumptions - a willingness to accept something as true without question or proof (Cambridge
Dictionary, n.d.)
4. propositions - theorem or problem to be demonstrated or performed (Merriam Webster, n.d.)
5. nursing theory - an organized framework of concepts and purposes designed to guide the
practice of nursing (Nursing Theory, n.d.)
6. Nursing Paradigm - a pattern that shows the relationship between a person, the environment in
which she lives and her health. A nursing paradigm is a concept that has developed over time
from the beliefs and practices of professionals in the healthcare sector (Reference, 2020)
7. Conceptual models - abstract, psychological representations of how tasks should be carried out.
People use conceptual models subconsciously and intuitively as a way of systematizing
processes (The Interaction Design, n.d.)
8. Philosophy - is an activity people undertake when they seek to understand fundamental truths
about themselves, the world in which they live, and their relationships to the world and to each
other. (Department of Philosophy, n.d.)
9. Knowledge - the fact or condition of being aware of something (Merriam Webster, n.d.)
10. Phenomenon - something that is observed to occur or to exist. It is simply a fact or event that
can be observed with the senses, either directly or using equipment such as microscopes or
telescopes. (Sheldon, 2022)
11. Science - Science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge. This system uses observation and
experimentation to describe and explain natural phenomena. The term science also refers to the
organized body of knowledge people have gained using that system. Less formally, the word
science often describes any systematic field of study or the knowledge gained from it. (Science

1. concept –idea that is visualized in the human mind
2. theory – hypothetical idea that makes sense but cannot be stated as factual due to lack of proof
or studying
3. assumptions – idea that’s perceived as true even if it doesn’t have proof or data to back it up
4. propositions –idea that’s suggested and is still pending for approval
5. nursing theory – concepts that explain how nurses should act in certain situations
6. Nursing Paradigm – a model that describes how the lifestyle of a person affects their well-being
7. Conceptual models – breaking down of network of tasks to help people understand it easier
8. Philosophy – the search for truth, which is never ending
9. Knowledge – level of perception or understanding about a certain idea
10. Phenomenon – an unforgettable occurrence that has been witnessed by multiple people
11. Science – the search for facts and information of the natural and social world by following step-
by-step methods
