Challenges

 Low funding, funds released do not cover the whole road network of the district.
 URF fund is mainly for road maintenance leaving rehabilitation and construction of roads not catered
for.
 Budget cuts. Funds are not released as planned, leaving other projects pending.
 Lack of transport, preliminary road works activities are not done on time prior to the actual works.
Recommendations
 There Is need for advocacy and lobbying from partners in order to help finance other roadworks
activities that road funds might not be able to handle.
 Planning alongside administration throughout financial budgeting allocate some funds to works
department in order to help in the acquisition of transport means to help carryout monthly/quarterly
road assessments/inventories.
 Prioritizing funds received in the department to the chosen road basing on the stipulated scope of
works to avoid scattering funds on various roads so that value for money is realized .
