at theradio Junction box and passing through the ball Joint. The assembly is described in Appendix II.(2) The spotlight could not be located satisfactorily on the hatchcover adjacent to the periscope as in this position the

Production models would incorporate suitable availableplugs and sockets. The spotlight could be controlled easily end satisfactorily fromwithin the tank. The only directional limitation imposed on thefield of illumination was
the silhouette or the tank itself. This restricted illumination or a small strip not exceeding fivefeet in width around the tank. With the hatch cover closed the spotlight could be completelycontrolled by the hand grip but when
open it was neceaeary torotate either the turret or the cupola esxwell as operate thehand grip. The spotlight enables the commander to discern personnel orvehicles at a distance of approximately lQ0 yards.Although e four
ribbed spherical guard was made up to protect thespotlight, protection against light scmb or vines only weeafforded. As the guard. increased the overall height at the -vehicle by 5 ins., and the rial; of damage to the spotlight
Illthereby increased, the guard was discarded. No acceptable solution to the problem has yet been found.- -tJz.,,.,.11..‘
