End of Year Message to Parents

Dear Parents,
We come to the close of yet another year and I must say that it was a challenging but yet a
fulfilling year for all of us at Diego Martin Central Secondary School. The school experienced
staff changes, exciting student led activities, fundraisers, immense assistance from the Ministry
of Works in upgrading our school, and the countless support of parents and community in
continuing to make DiegoSec a beacon in the community. As such, I say a heartfelt thank you to
all our stakeholders.

I implore of you parents to be vigilant with your children. Ten percent of our school population
of 595 students are persistently late on arrival to school. Many of you parents are unaware that
your child may not come straight to school and may be engaged in activities that would require
law enforcement. In the new term, I will continue to monitor this and parents of students who
are persistently late may be visited so that we can work together to arrest this development.

Parents, I will also like to encourage you to do your best to have your child picked up after
school. If you are unable to do this, give them a deadline to reach home. Your child should not
be loitering the streets of Diego Martin in areas where gang activity is prevalent. Many times
Police Officers have to insist that students leave certain liming spots and get onboard buses,
maxis or taxis to go home. There have been incidences where our students have been accosted
and beaten by students and unsavory characters on the streets. So once again assist us in
ensuring that your child arrives home at a suitable time and safely.

Parents/Guardians, let me take this opportunity to wish you and your family Merry Christmas
and Happy Holidays. Please be safe in all that you do and may the peace, joy and hope that the
season brings be with you throughout the New Year.

Desner Corria-Paul
Principal (Ag.)
