Position Description
The Social Media Coordinator maintains the overall media presence of St. James Lutheran
Church and helps coordinate the virtual worship experience.

Major Areas of Responsibility

The Social Media Director's list of responsibilities include:
● Maintaining the church’s social media networks
● Advising church leadership on best practices when using social media
● Working with St. James staff to push approved content to social media networks
● Helping create and execute an effective virtual worship experience.

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

● Overseeing the church’s social media networks with content approved by staff.
● Giving staff monthly updates on social media metrics.
● Works closely with the Director of Communication for creation of content for each social
media channel. This content may be pulled from Sunday announcements, special events
or morning worship.
● Monitors content on each social media channel and improves content with staff to
ensure that each channel is getting largest reach possible.
● Updates social media and informs staff of changes as necessary.
● Work with staff to create an effective virtual worship experience. This may include
recording music and sermons to include in virtual worship, running Zoom worship, and
uploading worship to the variety of social media networks.
● Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
● Broad knowledge and experience in major social media channels such as Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+.
● Metrics Analysis
● Excellent skills in written and verbal communication
● Understanding design layouts for digital devices
● Working in a team environment
● Education and Experience Degree or equivalent experience

Social Media Coordinator reports to the Director of Communications with staff annual review by the
Senior Pastor. This position is 10-15 hours per week. Pay based on qualifications and experience. To
