Position Summary
The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) is a national research and education centre dedicated to catalysing social
change for a better world. CSI is led by a national team (CSI National) and is comprised of four divisions
based in the business schools of four of Australia’s leading universities: UNSW Sydney (CSI UNSW),
University of Western Australia (CSI UWA), Flinders University (CSI Flinders) and Swinburne University of
Technology (CSI Swinburne). CSI’s research develops and brings together knowledge to understand and
address current social challenges and opportunities. CSI’s postgraduate, undergraduate and executive
education develops social impact leaders. CSI’s aim is to catalyse change by drawing on these foundations
and translating knowledge, creating leaders, developing usable resources, and reaching across traditional
divides to facilitate collaborations.
The National Social Media and Digital Marketing Officer will be primarily responsible for digital content
production, growth, and measurement, as well as supporting national brand development across CSI’s social
media channels and website.
Working closely with the National Communications Director, the role will cover a broad range of topics
including research, education, corporate communications, and social impact issues.
The role reports to the CSI National Communications Director, supporting CSI. It has no direct reports.

Accountabilities
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
• Create and manage our social media content across LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and Meta on a daily
basis.

• Conceptualise, design, and produce editorial content across multiple digital channels to help raise
brand awareness of the Centre for Social Impact.

• Use social media analytics and metrics to measure growth and develop meaningful engagement with
our target audience.

• Manage, develop and optimise website content to reflect best practice UX, SEO, CTR, and to grow
conversions and our digital presence.

• Keep our website up to date, dynamic and rich with multimedia content.

• Monitor, manage and grow our digital ad spends, including optimising campaigns to increase audience
engagement.

• Assist in the set-up and management of Google AdWords.

• Create and produce, infographics, shorts, and simple video content to be used across our digital
platforms.

• Act as deputy to the National Communications Director and fulfil critical elements of that role when
required.

• Assist the National Communications Director in the day-to-day operations of the division.

• Prepare quarterly reports on social media and website performance, demonstrating effectiveness of
activities to our Board of Directors.

• Work well in a fast-paced environment and have a sound understanding of the everchanging social
media and digital landscapes.

• Uphold the Centre for Social Impact’s reputation for research and education at the highest
standard.

• Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW
Code of Conduct.

• Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all
reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety
of yourself or others.

Skills and Experience


• A minimum of 3-5 years’ industry experience.
• Experience working or volunteering in the social impact sector, preferably in the not-for-profit or
higher education sectors.
• Experience developing and executing a successful digital strategy.
• Extensive experience scheduling social posts using platforms such as Buffer or Hootsuite.
• Experience working with CMS and a sound understanding of SEO and digital marketing.
• Experience using Google Analytics, Search Console and Google Data Studio.
• Experience using Mailchimp or similar email marketing platform.
• Basic understanding of URL hierarchies and mapping.
• Basic knowledge of fixing link and web errors.
• Strong communications skills with high attention to detail.
• Experience using Canva and editing software such as In Design, Photoshop, Premier Pro and/or
Lightroom.
• The ability to work both independently and in a team environment and be highly organised.
• Imagination, willingness to learn, and a positive can-do attitude.
• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together
with relevant policies and guidelines.
• Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and
safety training
